Ok, I totally agreed with the anti-tether policies and reckless dog owner policies. People do need to start being held responsible for their animals. But the pit bull crap is unbeleiveable. I am not a fan of most bully breeds myself, but the hoops they make people jump through for "ambassador status" is ridiculous. I've been bit by more goldens, labs, and little fluffy dogs than I have pits.
The loss of dog owners' rights, coming to a town near you.

I'm with you Two Moons, move back and put up a gate!
It's just another way to collect more money from the people. Exthortion and over regualtion has become the American way.
I have never been threatened by a Pit Bull before and I have interacted with a large number of them. However in the last year alone I have come in contact with 3 VERY agressive Goldens (what has gone wrong with that breed anyhow?) and more agressive small dogs than I can even count. I know full well what's wrong with them.....thier owners think it's cute and funny........IT"S NOT.

We've had the same knee jerk reactions to Pit Bulls here in the UK. The RSPCA thought it was their job to stand up in Court giving evidence to support the destruction of many dogs... who had done nothing, other than to look like a Pit Bull TYPE... to the RSPCA, Champ' show judges would tell the Courts, "this is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, it's a poor example of the breed but that's what it is."
The Courts listened to the RSPCA and so did Jo Public. Once the RSPCA had lost a few million in donations from "dog people", they stopped giving their ignorant evidence! That's how caring and knowledgable our RSPCA is!
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals... what part of that heading lends itself to the destruction of healthy INNOCENT animals? Was it legal???
Make sure your American counterpart does not get involved like this if you can!

ironbark, you hit the nail on the head with those small dogs. I was at the vet a while back and saw a pomeranian go after a leonberger. Lucky for him, the leo was a big sweetie, bnut the whole waiting room thought it was hilarious. I wanted to scream. Yes, it's very cute and funny until the little dog gets chomped, then it's the vicious big dog's fault.
One of my worst bite scars is from a chocolate lab, and the first dog that ever drew blood on me was a little cairn terrier.
I really don't understand how legislation like this is constitutional or even legal. These new rules were instated after a toddler was brutally attacked by a (so-called) pit, but the severe restrictions on dangerous dog owners look sufficient to me. The pit ban is just beating a dead horse. Seriously, you have to muzzle your own dog on your own property unless you have a fence? WTF is that?!
Sorry, I'm still amazed by this.
