Yes, actually I seen a PPD female in action, there is a guy that actually prefers females as he belives that they have more fight in them.

i own a pp bitch and to be honest she is superb (IMO better than a lot of males) the only thing is when she is due in season she can be a bit mental but its only twice a year so not a big deal. she was in season for our NASDU test and passed with flying colors

I don't think their gender has much to do with which one makes a better PPD I just think we hear more about the males because more people tend to prefer a male dog over a bitch. I myself prefer males for the obvious reasons that have nothing to do with their workability. I just don't like dealing with the heat cycles, not to mention I just think bitches are more stubborn....and they tend to like men better. lol But I've seen some pretty serious bitches so I'd have to say that it's just as common to see a good PP bitch as it is for a male, just not too many people are willing to sell or give up a stable, serious bitch.

It always comes down to the individual dog. No doubt an alpha female who borders on gangster can be a most potent family protector when kept in the home 24/7 and is a part of the family. Their smaller size can help them respond faster to a situation that develops. In my home an alpha female runs everythinga and makes all initail first responses, only calling in our male for assistance when she thinks reinforcements are needed. I've seen this with other homes where there is an alpha fermale and a male in the home 24/7 as family pets. The alpha bitches seem to go off first at any situation that develops.

My personnel opinion is that sex does not play an important role in a PP dog. It's the steady head/ mind and the courage which matters.
A trained dog is as good as the trainer who is continuosly training the dog.
