Any changes in sight?
I think so. . . judging from my own pocketbook. Any effect on NASS or on shows going forward.
My hunch is that the turnout will be far less going forward.
Interesting to see and hear though. Those who have cut down on etries, litters etc. due to the turn in the economy.

everyone will have to be carefull here, otherwise this will turn into another political thread.
i know the econ. change has caused my wife and I to change our plans. we were going to the wusv, but were unable to. have to save as much as possible to make it to the nationals in texas.
still breed my bitches. not worried if the pups sell or not, thats not my reasons behind breeding. if i dont have the financial means to support the pups, then i wont breed the bitch. if the pups dont sell, all the better for me. i get to keep them longer. dont tell my wife i said that.

I know many people who had stopped showing mainly because the cost is too high now and then the politics of the clubs.

Yes, it will have an impact. It's already more expensive to travel to dog shows and trials simply because of gas prices. People will still show and trial and go to watch, they just won't travel as far as they might have once. This translates to fewer people entered and fewer spectators. A local kennel club (AKC affiliate) had a lower than average turnout at an obedience and rally trial recently. Things like the National and WUSV are probably already feeling the pinch. It will be interesting to see how many entrants there are as show season starts up again after the Christmas holidays.
There. No politics.

Actually gas price's here and in Kentucky have been going down. It's still not cheap, but going down. $2.99 to $3.29
What's not going down is food or service's, utility bill's, alcohol, a pack of smoke's, house payment's, dog food.
It's hard not to say anything involving politic's. The underlying fear's that are driving economic issue's are partly due to political activities.
Life must go on.

You're right about that.

I will go to whatever trials I feel like supporting and I have somebody I can get to feed the critters that stay home. I didn't get to go as much as I wanted to the last couple years for other reasons, I may make up for lost time. As long as I'm having fun and my girlie dogs are progressing. Oh heck, as long as it's fun.

I know I cannot attend the NASS this year due to finances. I had 3-5 dogs I would've entered.
When I was titling a dog in AKC, I used to go any event within 3 hours. My radius is now down to 1 hour.
