hip x-rays again :) - Page 1

I just got my girl's final OFA x-rays done and was hoping to get opinions on them!  She is 2 years 9 months old.  What rating do you think she will get?

The hip on the right side of the picture is a bit worrisome. The shadow of the socket that you can see through the hip ball seems to dip in a lot. On that side, too, the femoral head is a bit flattened.

The other side looks very good. I'm going to guess OFA Fair, but I'd be interested in what OFA will say.

What did your vet say when he took the x-rays?

They look great to me! Nice positioning very nice xray deep sockets.

I also say she will get a  good,

Here is a shot of her prelim x-ray, taken at 14 months old.  She came into heat about 4-6 weeks after this x-ray was taken. IMO the 2 x-rays look almost identical now that I'm looking at them side by side.

I didn't get to talk to the vet this time, but last time the x-rays were taken he said they looked very good but probably not quite excellent.  She ended up getting an OFA good prelim.

I'll be sure to post again when I hear back from the OFA!

OFA good. BTW your vet really knows how to take a great hip xray.

I agree that the "right" side (bitch's left side) has a more shallow socket, but it definitely has enough to take it just past 50% coverage. The true right side is definitely a "good" and the true left wavers between a "fair" and a "good". So, perhaps she will receive a "good" and at worst a "fair".

But, the hips are sound and that is most important.
