What size crates can I get side-by-side behind the second row seats in an '08 Lincoln Navigator please? No its not mine. LOL Just trying to figure out what all I can plan to load up when my friend picks my up to take HER truck to the NASS, hoping I can get 2 dogs in crates, all the usual stuff in and still have room for HER, ha ha ha. ;-D

We leave Tueday.

Are you talking the second backseat Shelley? If she leaves all of the seating in, you can only fit 2 med crates side by side or 1 larger sideways. The Navigator is the same thing as an Excursion with just a diferent trim package/fancier crap inside. Should be plenty of hight room to stack your bags on top of the crates and leashes/dog stuff between.

We will fold the 3rd row seating flat to the floor. 2nd row is a bench seat affair that you can fold down all or part of. Its an extended length version, so I am hoping it will haul everything okay, maybe a 400 and 500 side-by-side facing rear, (two 500's?) maybe have to tie the EZ-up and two folding chairs to the roof, 2-3 suitcases + all the crap (dog food, small cooler, equip bag, grooming junk...)

Not sure if there willl be 2 or 3 passengers yet. Good to know the height is such we can throw suitcases on top of the crates! As everyone knows, blondes don't NEED rear-view mirrors. LOL I hope my friend has a good auto detail shop in her neighborhood. She's going to croak when she sees what ME and two dogs & a week at a dog show does to her new black '08 Navigator, even if it doesn't rain and I throw in a tarp and some blankets under the junk and the crates, padding on the roof. Ha ha ha.

Thanks! SS

Hi Shelley,

You might consider a small rental trailor for everything except your dog's to pull behind.

And a (Seriously Blonde) sign on the back !!

hehehehehe........................just kidding.

Think about the trailor tho.

Brent.

Well good news, without the 3rd seat you can fit another behind the 500 in the back but a 400 and 500 wont fit side by side in the rear without removing the spare tire, I'm pretty sure. 1 crate will have to be sideways inside and hopefully your dog can jump in the rear passenger door with it pulled forward and into the crate gate for travel. Once the dog is in the crate fold the seat back up for the rear passengers and get on down the road. Good luck.

To heck with the rear passengers, (I CALL SHOTGUN!) and who needs a spare tire? Ha ha ha. I do have a collapsible, aluminum Bob McKee crate, straight-sided, 23"W x 40"L x 28"H. Maybe that will fit next to another 400 or 500 facing rear if we collapse half of the second row bench seat.

Do they still make those screw-n U-Haul replacement bulb doo-hickies with the wires coming out of the tail lamp assembly so you can jury-rig running, brake and stop lights, or do we have to do it the right way now? The older Ford products were always a bitch to wire for trailer towing. This monster is rated for 8K lbs. trailer towing, but towing during break in is not recommended. I don't hink my silly 900 lb. dog trailer would make any great difference, would keep the truck a lot cleaner, but it isn't my decision.

Thanks! SS

My husband says there is no such thing as "running in" for modern cars!  He is a fully qualified car/hgv mechanic and should know what he's talking about.
