my gal likes to play with tug and plays very hard and gets good grip. also likes to chase the tug.
once she wins it i let it go then she does like chewing the tug and walking around.
not holding.....she usually brings it to me to play but she keeps chewing while carrying around.
would be glad to hear any suggestions ...
thanks a lot.

She chews cause you let her. Don't let her. If she chews then she loses the toy. If she has enough drive she will learn not to do it.

Why do you let her play with the tug on her own You only play with it with her after that lesson is done take it away
when she bites on the tug let her keep hold of it then you get hold of each end and move it from side to side, never up and down, she will keep a full grip on it then
Once you think it enough, then tell her to sit and relax your hold on the ends of the tug but still maitain the hold lightly and relaxed and tell her to OUT' or LOS which ever word you use in a strong firm voice, but not loud
it will take a few times once she has outed it move back a couple of steps and let her get hold again , then repeat the above only two or three times each session is enough to start with

thank you for providing me info.
she never allowed to play after session only during the session.
once she grabs it then she starts chewing .....i take away with OUT command and she does fine and let her grab ...
instead holding she chews once she gets it.
as Steve suggested , i'll try that.
if anything else, would really appreciate.

forgot to mention earlier.
is it due to playing ball.
i've two balls that i use to play as a recall....one throw when brings i throw the other.
the ball is planet ball....this ball also i uses during session only but my concern is since it is soft and like to chew maybe she did same in tug too....
just wondering....
thanks

Follow Steve's advice for the tug. Some of the best gripping dogs dogs I have known chewed everything. They were very busy dogs and it was like everything must be destroyed. Treat the tug like a working tool that it is and do not let it happen. Good luck in your training.

just remember some dogs u will not be able to fix this no matter what you do.so do not stress yourself over this as long as she bites and does not chew it is fine.i have seen some awesome dogs who would chew when running around with a tug or even when in the arms of the handler but has nice calmbite with full mouth.it also depends on why a dog is chewing in the first place.just remember if you stress over it too much you might make it worse.good luck.have a nice one.

i tried as Steve suggested yesterday.
like two times in a session.
the only problem i've seen is once i let her win it and she starts taking away and tries to chew on it.
but i take it slowly after few secs of letting her play.
is that fine?

tie a rope or leash to the end of the tug. if she starts to chew on the tug when you let her have it, pull it away, make drive for the toy again, and let her bite. she will learn that if she chews she can loose it. if she holds it tight she gets to keep it. most dogs i have worked like this, it only takes a few sessions and they learn to hold on .

She is in conflict.... I agree with jletcher18 to solve the issue
