This is what I feed my dogs:
45% Raw Meaty Bones (Chicken Necks)
25% Muscle Meat (Pork)
15% Organ Meat (Chicken Liver)
10% Fruit/Vegetables (Bananas/Rambutans,Carrots)
5% Skin (Pork Skin)
Supplements: Cod Liver Oil (Daily), Garlic (Weekly)
The dogs LOVE the food and since I switched to Raw (about 8 months ago) I have only needed 1 vet visit (from 4 dogs) compared to before when it seemed to be a monthly routine!!
The coat and skin are problem free and the dogs go to the toilet MUCH less often than before.
If anybody has any advice or suggestions please let me know, and feel free to post your own Raw Diet Ingredients.

I heared that Pork is not a good choice of meat. But hey if it works for you and your dogs.

Oh really, do you know why that is?
Thanks.

Pork necks are actually one of the staples I feed & have not had any problems BUT I cannot feed pork legs and feet, because my dog barfs them back up every time.
I am curious about the pork skin, because I haven't heard of anyone who feeds any kind of animal skin. Why are you giving them that, what are the benefits?

I feed the pork skin mainly because it is actually very chewy and hard and takes them a while to eat. So it's kind of like an extra snack for them becasue I like to give some variety and it also cleans their teeth like a bone does.
I only added it recently because when I was buying the pork and some bones for them the butcher gave some to me for free so when I was giving the dogs their bones (recreational) I added that in and they really enjoy it!
Do you feed a raw diet? You should try it with your dogs.

Yes, I feed raw, (hence my statement that "pork necks are one of the staples in my dogs diet"!). I just have never fed skin or heard of anyone who feeds skin, so I was curious if this was something I should add to my dogs diet. As for variety, I think it's important to feed different protein sources. The staple whole bones I feed every week are: pork necks, lamb necks, venison necks, chicken necks & frames. I feed twice a day. One meal is whole bones, the other is ground bones/muscle meat/organs and fresh frozen tripe. I also feed beef heart as it's a great source of taurine.
I no longer go out of my way to feed fruits/veg, it just doesn't seem necessary to me.
I never give my dogs recreational bones, I don't want to take a chance on a chipped tooth.
I supplement with salmon oil. I don't ever feed cod liver oil because it is my understanding vitamin A collects in the the fish liver which in turn collects in the dogs liver and can be toxic to the dog. I also supplement with vitamin E.

cod liver oil is fine occasionally (exactly for the reasons stated) . Salmon oil or a blend of EFA's 3, 6 and 9 is what I use regularly with cod liver oil now and again..
I feed prepared mixes that already have the organs and bone and veggies in them in PM and some sort of RMB in the am... I am a distributor for Oma's Pride, HPP and Blue Ridge Beef.

Henry,i use to feed raw for a while but not now however to answer your question in respect to pork,Most people are worried about trichinoses which is a nasty nasty bug. Also i read some research that said the chances for toxoplosmosis(sp)is higher as well.As far as the skin it contains Linoleic Acid(omega6)an essential fat.I guess the only concern would be how much skin(fat)are you adding by also adding the skin.I would take an educated guess and say that you could add salmon or herring oil instead of cod since you are feeding organ meats anyway.Just be carefull that you are not giving the cod liver oil in excess.Im not a nutritionist but this is my opininon and maybe one day when there is more scientific research available,I too will go back to raw. Good luck and have a nice day.

Trichinosis has pretty much been eradicated in the USA, plus freezing the meat for 3 weeks will kill any Trichinosis or Toxoplasma gondii. People regularly eat pink pork without issue these days; HOWEVER, it IS present in wild boar and bear and freezing will NOT kill it from those sources.

Cod liver oil has too much Vitamin A (though the chance of Vitamin A overdose if not high but why chance it).
Fish oil is extracted from the muscle and skin of cold water fish, not the liver. I use only molecularly distilled fish oil.
