People that know about this dog what do you think about him in terms of how he was and how he produced? And if anyone knows anything about his son Mando v h Antverpa i would also like to hear it too. Thanks.

Arek, and his brother Alf, (the latter imported into this country in the 80's) brought extreme hardness and fighting drive in both males AND females through Gildo Korbelbach, mom Umsa and grandpa Matsch. We still line-breed on those lines to bring hardness and strong nerves today. They were not pretty dogs for the most part, hard-headed and stubborn a lot of times, not always animated in B, some dentition, hips and elbow problems, but strong, strong, strong!

what is dentition? The reason i ask is because he shows up in my dogs ped in the 4th gen and 7th thru mando on his dads side and through van gough on his moms side.

Dentition means teeth and jaw (overbite, underbite, scissors bite)!

I liked my outcome of a linebreeding on Arek : www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/521572.html

I bred the B-litter "van Gogh" with Arek and my female Munja in the late 80s. I got the chance to see Arek in normal day life situation and in training on the field. He was a very neutral dog around strangers, had very good breeding behavior, quite dominant with the bitch and his bite work was super. Super hard grips and a lot of fight and good, clear aggression. You can find a video of his BSP performance at www.vombanholz.be (videos --> hall of fame).

He himself was very handsome and for back then he was extremly dark sable, dark eyes, but could have had a somewhat better head. The litter I had from him was far over average, the males were bigger then Arek himself and had better bones. In protection they were very strong, but somewhat hard to control, tracking was easy due to good food drive, but the obedience could be a bit challenging, not very flashy dogs. Although they might have turned out a bit different with the trainig nowadays.

I really liked the dog, I think he brought a lot of good traits into the breed. I recently bred a litter with my female Yara and Ranger vom Germelhaus that had a line breeding on Arek 5-5. Arek died in 1998 at age 14 as far as I know.

I am 56 years old. Almost everybody is "young" to me these days! Try getting out of bed and training dogs/doing chores when its 10F outside in the morning in Eastern PA. The cold and ice adds about 10 yrs. LOL

Keep up the good work!
