I have aseven months old gsd male. while walking slow he turns both his hocks inwards.I consulted some veternarians, they says he has hip displesya, but idon't think so because his pedigree contains v ranking dogs he is grandson of QUANDO-VOM NORDLANDZWINGER.So is there any chances of hip deplesya and while standing most of the time his hock touches each other. Please guide me i am damm worried about him.

a) For Hip Displaysia you need to get the PROPER X-Rays of Hips done by a qualified Radiologist and take the opinion of a Vet who has experience in reading Hip/Elbow X-rays.

b) You need to consult the vet after the X-Rays. Any vet who says the dog has displaysia seeing the cow hocks is an idiot in my opinion

V rated is no guarantee that the dog cannot have Hip problems. This is genetic and can occur in the best of the best breedings.

cheers

IMO your vet is either ignorant of the breed or just arrogant.

1) Do a hips' x-ray

2) Take care that the floor of the kennel the dog lives is soft (eg wood) not concrete and definately not slippery

3) Begin gaiting with the dog in streets going upwards (but do not overdo it)

An indication that may lead us to think that MAYBE the dog has a problem is whether he sits and rests a lot after a short play (eg 10 minutes)...

Take care of these things now before you meet them down the road later...

Regards

Look up the post  Cowhocks how much is to much, there is a picture of one of my dogs with cowhocks she is 11 month old and had her pre hip X-Rays her hips are good, read the info input from some of the members here.

Vikram is right.  If you are worried, get an xray.  The fact that the pedigree contains "v" rated dogs in NO WAY indicates the dog won't be dysplastic  and the fact that at 7 months old he is cowhocked in no way indicates he is dysplastic.  Be sure to go to a vet experienced in proper hip positioning, not all vets are.  Ask GSD people in your community for the name of a vet who's good at hip xrays.

I co-bred a litter in which the sire was OFA excellent and the dam OFA good. One of the litter from this breeding was about 2 months old when she started screaming in pain- we had her xrayed, and she had NO hip sockets!!! So, genetics is genetics, and will throw a curve ball when you least expect it! She had solid OFA pedigre behind her, the lowest rating of which was GOOD!

Arpit,I have two questions.Has this 7 month old male been kenneled most of his life?If so what is the size? OMG Marjorie! I am so sorry. Weren't there any signs  before two months when she was interacting with the other pups in the litter?

No signs- nothing.... She was a great pup- happy! She gave us no reason to suspect anything was wrong. It was a bolt out of the blue, to say the least. The OFA behind her was so solid, nothing ever would have led us to believe this was even a possibility of happening.. It just wasnt even on the radar, if you know what I mean... There was nothing to even try to fix :(
