Experienced breeders please advse.
When the vulva is quite swollen and the discharge is still blood red and the amount has not subsided (about 7 days since bitch was observed licking her vulva and 5 days since drops of blood were observed), is it true that ovulation likely has not yet occurred and won't occur within two days or sooner?
Thanks

Hello,
The ovulations usually occur between 10-15 days after the first day dropping blood. And, at this moment blood stop. But sometimes can be present.

Hello,
Ovulation usually takes place between the 10th to 15th day after first spotting blood. Now, dont take this as a set rule, they come in all varietys. If you want to know when the best time is for a breeding, you can go different routes to. One would be to do Progeteron tests. I have very good results with it, but make sure you have a Vet who knows what he is doing. Annother way would be to have an experienced male to check her out. If she signals that she is ready, and he is attempting to do the job, it most likely is the time..
Hope this helps Ulli
