Any one using this Raw food? What do you like about it, and what you don't? Thanks for you help.

Bump, I know that there is a bit of you that are using Omas pride Raw any idea of how to introduce it to a 3 months old pup? Thanks.

I buy quite a bit from Oma's and have never been disappointed. I use the mixes on occasion (which is, ground meat and bone, organ meat and veggies 80:10:10) and the dogs do fine with it. I also feed their chicken backs, turkey necks, turkey hearts, pork necks, etc... As far as puppies... throw 'em a chicken wing and see how they do :) 5-6 week old pups usually have little trouble eating wings or necks, so a 12 week old should be fine. If they balk at the wings, try the mixes to get them started, or try starting with some ground chicken (with the bone ground in as well). Good luck!

I also use Oma's pride.. and there should be no problems with a 12 week old pup enjoying the food.. sometimes what i do with a younger pup that is not used to real bones.. is beat the wings and necks up with a hammer before feeding.. the mixes are great.. my dogs have been on this food for years.. and I have weaned several litters of puppies on oma's pride.
I do add Vit. C, E, and some oils to the food..

We raise all of our puppies on Oma's mix and have had wonderful results with it. Most of our club members feed it as well and all the dogs look super!

I am awaiting a delivery as we speak! No negatives to report here, I have always felt that the quality and variety is the best. I use Oma's mostly for tripe, bones and/or their organ meat combo. I also buy veggies occasionally. One of my favorites is the lamb breast and riblet bones...... I don't use the mixes much (more expensive) because I think you can get a variety of meats more cheaply locally. You also have to be careful you don't overdo the calcium - almost all the mixes contain bone, so you would probably only want to feed it for one meal (if you feed twice a day). The other meal should be one without added calcium. There is excellent information on raw feeding at www.b-naturals.com
This is how I got started! Good luck...........you are doing something very worthwhile for your pal!

So what you saying should I add more meat to lower calcium amount?

I've used Oma's Pride before and didn't have any problems. Unfortunately, it became too expensive to be worth it for me. I had to drive 2.5 hours to Pennsylvania to find the closest distributor and load up the freezer. Then my distributor dropped it because it was getting too pricey. The final reason I walked away from it is that I tried feeding Innova EVO and saw no difference at all in my dog. Dry kibble, locally available, lower price, same results.
Nevertheless, if you have someone locally you can get Oma's from, then I think you will be happy with the results.
