is anyone in the states planning on breeding there bitches to either of these dogs in the near future?
by AKVeronica60 on 01 October 2008 - 21:10
I was planning on breeding to Bomber, just so I could have one of his puppies. I fell heels over teakettle in love with the dog when I saw him in Germany last year. I think he was still not two years old and did not even his BH when I saw him! But I decided to buy a male pup by Bomber out of a solid black Melano v. Cap Arkona daughter instead. I get my Bomber pup this month. He is coming out of Norway.
Bomber is breeding to a LOT of females, even though he only has a SchH1 so far. Karthago and Jabina have both bred very nice bitches to him. The Karthago bitch (SchH3) was the daughter of the bitch I own, Vinetta von Karthago, who I was going to bred to Bomber. I still plan to breed to him in the future.

hello veronica,
Bomber is, IMO, the best looking black gsd i've ever seen.
i am pretty sure i will just import a pup from a breeding in germany or wherever as well.
i just can't believe there isn't a line of breeders sending there bitches to him.

Shipping has gone up. You can take all the trouble and expense to breed to him, pay his (reasonable) stud fee, and then due to the stress of shipping and other things that happen naturally with bitches, end up with no pups. You need to be a bit of a gambler to do it :-)

Give me six or so months, and I'll probably have bred to Bomber via shipping a bitch, importing a bred bitch or through importing frozen semen. I just couldn't risk it right now, when I could get a pup of his out of a fantastic solid black bitch whose lines I wanted in my breeding program anyway. I do have "Bomber plans".

Both Thomas Lapp and John Jabina are expecting puppies out of Eliot v. Prevent. according to the lastest breed report.
Veronica, is Bomber not in Germany? How did you plan to AI?

Yes, he is in Germany. I was going to import frozen semen, originally. If you are careful, you can keep customs from detaining the package and letting it thaw out so it's useless. I got advice from FedEx customs people via a friend of mine who worked there :-) You can't do AI in Germany, of course, but you can import it and use it in the USA. Or I could send a bitch, or buy a bitch bred. Where there's a will...there's a litter.
John Jabina also bred a bitch named Eva to Bomber, who had seven pups in July.
My Bomber pup is out of Glarbo Zulu, SchH2, owned by Utzon's kennel in Norway, owned by Ivan Jenssen.

Interesting, sorry to go off topic. How do you get a deck beschinigen (sp?) to be able to register a litter? I had thought of being at the WUSV with a sperm collection team ready to go immediately after the closing ceremonies as it is getting quite costly to travel to Europe these days

I am not sure about the deck beschnigung, but you need to fill out special AKC paperwork for the frozen semen AI to register the litter. Veronica
