my gosh i couldn't finish watching all 6 parts; those poor dogs.  the gsd judge sounded like he wasn't very intelligent, i don't mean to insult but his mind seemed to work very slowly and he didn't appear to comprehend the actually words being spoken to him.  he just sounded like he knew what to say because he said it before but it was disassociated like he was in some sort of dream or delusional state or something very weird.  and those gsds - is that for real?  do people think those back legs are high functioning?  can someone here explain why that is what show lines are breeding and what the point is? i don't understand - to what ends?  if a human had legs like that they would be eligible for a handicap parking permit.  simply heartbreaking and hard not to lose hope.

i did read some of the posts when the orginal thread first came up but i didn't have access to the show at that time. since i hadn't seen the footage i stopped reading the thread so if it had been posted that the video was available on the net i miss it.  today was the first chance i had to view it and  like most people's response to their first viewing - i was a bit disturb - so i chose to reply to this thread.  i certainly wasn't trying to stir up any old battles.  it's no problem for me to simply go back to that thread to see if anyone addressed my questions.

so i found the other threads:) i ran a search for - Pedigree Dogs Exposed - then hit "find" and looked for statements containing 'legs', 'hind', 'rear' & 'judge' and from what i gathered it seems most people don't feel the gsds on the video were correct to the standard. it also seems the overall view was this structure is not particularly functional.  though at least one poster said it is good for trotting on flat surfaces, which is good for patrolling, but others felt though this might be true the compromise/trade off (e.g. loss of jumping ability) was too great.  though i didn't read it throughly so i may have missed something here.

i wasn't able to find a clear response to my thoughts on the judge's demeanor.  the closest comment i found was that the judges are either pressured or bribed into favoring big powerful breeders.  some felt the judges were the real problem because they caved (for whatever reason) to the pressure rather than staying true to the standard.  i was particularly looking for support for the judge's statement that the gsd's we were seeing were indeed truer to the standard than working lines gsds but i was unable to find any such support.

i guess all i have to say is why try changing these obviously corrupt and dysfunctional organizations.  it would seem  invest time, energy and money in a valid alternative (in addition to working competitions - something that would appeal to the quality show line breeders as well as the working line breeders)  might end up being more productive.   maybe go back to the beginning and start over and ignore these folks might be effective?   and just let them manipulate each other and ruin their dogs instead of the whole breed;)  maybe i'm naive but i believe it has been done before so why not do it again.
