I know this question has probably been asked a hundred times, but I wanted some advice on dog food, not for myself becsuse I feed raw but for somebody else.
So, if you have any recommendations then please let me know.
I'm looking at these brands in particular: PRO PLAN, NUTRI EDGE, ROYAL CANIN, ORIJEN AND ACANA.
Thanks.

I use Pro Plan and have excellent results, dogs have nice coats, small formed stools, good energy. And best is they LOVE it! I've used several other brands with a higher price tag but less desirable results.

Tase of the Wild, for my dogs.
For my assistance dogs in training, Eukanuba or Pro-Plan. Altho, I am considering switching that to Barking at the Moon or Blue Buffalo(Both grain free food)

I would not use RC, poor qualtiy meeats used. I would not use orijen as well due to it's high protein count I am using currently Vetschoice Holistic kibbles and suplementing with martins k9 formula,

Yeah, I thought the high protein might be a problem, it's about 42% I think.
What problems might that cause?

Look around there is more than one school of thoughts out there; some people believe that protein ratio should be lowered for big breed dogs, especially puppies, some that it should be higher. There is no simple answer to that. I don't like seeing my food having more than 26%. As well I adjust my dogs portions according to what I see, starts to gain too much weight cut it back, underweight increase. Think about it, many people talk about feeding raw because that's what the dog would eat out in the nature. I agree with that, but at the same time I know that there would be times where the dog, wolf would go without eating for days, since we feed are dogs on regular basis, I believe the calorie intake and protein for that matter should be lower, as well at least one day a week my dog don't get anything to eat, keeps them motivated, keeps them lean, keeps them healthy. You need to decide which school though you are in, but at the same time be willing to change if you see any negative results. Good luck and I hope whatever you decide you will be happy with. By the way my vet dose not agree with me, and don't like what I am doing, but at the same time every visit he just say's "she looks good, really good, it looks like your doing a good job, even though it is against what my gut is telling me" (he is a breeder as well coming out of his mouth I take it as a complement).
