Hi,
I'm looking for online resources that discusses schutzhund training from the puppy stage to schutzhund III; basically, from picking and evaulating the puppy to actual training ( for example, what should I train the puppy at specific age, for how long, etc.......)
I'm trying to figure out if this is more than I can handle in terms of time spent training, resouces allocated, etc...........
Thanks,

HI and Welcome.
The kind of information that you are looking for is best found at a Schutzhund club. Most of the people that participate in this sport are great resources. Everyone's opinion of when to start a puppy and how much to teach and when to teach, are different. You can go onto: germanshepherddog.com. That is the United Schutzhund Clubs of America's website, and find a club that is close to you. You should call the club and ask if you can come and observe a training, and while you are there, talk to the members. I participate in Schutzhund, and I track with my dog approx. 3-4 times a week, we work on the protection phase, and obedience every day, most of the time incorporating, one into the other. This is a sport that requires a great deal of training, but the rewards are truly great. Good Luck to you!

http://schutzhundtracking.com/ alot of good info for tracking
as far as what to train, for how long, and at what time,,,, you have to let the dog tell you that. i agree with BJ, you should look for a club, dont limit yourself to USCA, there is also DVG and WDA.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!
I will pay a visit to the local club very soon. However, I'm trying to have other sources as well.
How many hours do you train your dog a day? And how well he scores in trail?
I know every dog is different, so let's assume that the dog has average drives. If otherwise, please state.

i dont train for hours a day. i work my dog short sessions. usually once or twice a day. sometimes we go out and just walk and play without any formal training.
in 8 trials, sch1-3, 243 low-268 high. she made her sch3 before the age of 3. tracking was always her low score, my fault because i dont do it enough.
the best place i have found to get new training ideas is from seminars. you dont have to change your training style, but it is a great place to gain new ideas to add to your training.
