So one of my dogs doesn't appear to be in heat....she lives in the house and I haven't seen any blood from her.  But the thing is,  her and my male have been very flirty and for the past week he has been trying to mount her. She sniffs him, rubs against him, their tails go curled over and then he mounts and then she will get aggressive and also sit down.....this has been going on for about a week and a few days. She did recently blow her coat though.....But is there really such thing as a "silent" heat cycle like some say?  Any ideas?

she is probably "thinking" about coming in season..     probably will be in in the next week or two..

She may be about ready to come in.  Have you checked her out up close?  Has she swelled at all?  Any females nearby who may be in season?

Abhay theres only one other female here, but she isn't in season nor is she ever around this one.  I did check up close and it does look to be a little swollen compared to normal.

All you can do is keep an eye on her.  Check her up close every few days. Some females bleed quite a bit when they come in.  Others may just show a sign of blood or maybe a drop or two.  If the scent is even in the air it can make the dogs act up, and can draw females in, who are nearby.

Yes, there are silent heat cycles.  As well as split heat cycles.  That's one reason there are whoops litters.
