Dear GSD-fans,

Thanks to the great help of Pam (thanks a million!), I was able to quickly translate my paper: "The Bottleneck of the Century, Created by the SV".

Please feel free to visit: http://www.bloggen.be/hd/archief.php?ID=23772

Do keep in mind, that this study is based on another paper: "The Stud-Business in the SV", one can look it up on my weblog. Now one doesn't need to understand the German text, the charts speak for themselves, and the most popular stud dogs have built the basis for "The Bottleneck."

Wishing everyone a healthy GSD!

Thats Swell!!! Thanks

Thanks again Jantie - how incredibly depressing, but no surprise either. I believe that if Helmut Raiser had been allowed to keep his job as breed warden a few years back we might have seen some change. Not likely now, and I think you are right - things will just continue to get worse. Pathetic.....

Jantie, Excellent Paper and so true...when people smash me for not doing any close line breeds will send them there and when they suggest sending show lines to breed to working it will not work. The working lines are in this as well and I try hard to bring new blood in because of health and temperament issues today. The weak nerves now is taking over working lines from inbreeding and close breeding which used to more associated with show but it is almost not quite but almost as bad in some working lines today. Health, temperament, intelligence and working ability before long will be gone. This is why I think the Belgiums are the best breeders in all of Europe they believe in diversity and take the Belgium to the Czech, or German  etc. and do much more diversity with their lines. Helmut does a excellent job of type casting and putting good dogs together and has a lot of insite on dogs that is amazing. He can also read dogs very well which few can do in our country most mistake nervy dogs for hard dogs here and have never seen a trully hard dog with confidance.

Thanks for the compliments. Shall I just go ahead and also translate my paper "The Stud-Business in the SV" then?

I daresay it opened my eyes, hadn't expected the outcome.

Yes and send it to me wigginsk9@aol.com and thank you for your help I spoke with Jan Sevens the other day we had a nice conversation about dogs and lines a very smart and wise breeder. Breeders need to learn from the masters and I learn some thing every time he is doing a line breed his (first time ever for him )and we talked about that. It is really difficult to do he may pull it off with his skills I would never attempt it but he has more access to knowing every dog he is breeding upon in  more details than just reading a korung which makes a difference. His female now deceased Randa Vom Haus Sevens was one of the all time best producers in Europe and he is breeding his old line to his new lines  as well which knowing his record and lines will be  some very fine puppies.

Jantie, is it any wonder that Erasmus van Noort  had to be euthanized this week, due to 'age-related health problems'!

Inbreeding depression, anyone?

Here's my 13-year old rescue (deceased at the age of 14 1/2) laughing at the idiots who think and 8 year old GSD is old!
