Has anyone had a GSD or heard of a GSD with this problem?
Any information at all will be helpful. Thanks!

This subject has been discussed repeatedly on this site. I suggest you start by searching for the term and once you have read those posts, if you have specific questions, ask again. There are many GSDs with this problem. But first, make sure you have ruled out parasites.....

My first dog Cindy in 1977 was diagnosed with this type of thing
the birds were eating her poop adn she was getting thin went to Dr adn they made the diagnosis
had her on the enzme but we tried until she got real nasty and went to bite me she never had a mean thought until this time..... the vet said she would not make our move from Kansas to new jersey and the kindest thing was to put ther to sleep at 5 we were devastated........

Well Josh is my second dog with EPI, this is the website link http://uk.msnusers.com/EPIindogs/epiandmydogs.msnw
Its a personal website with information on how I dealt with the situation and if its of any help to others I am glad. No need to join as a member, but if you want to thats fine.
The way I have dealt with Josh has been completely different from how I treated Shadow (RIP) but I only had vets advice then, no internet for research etc.
Have you had your pup tested with the TLI test..... thats a must and urgent.
My dog nearly went into total renal collapse while the bloody vets peed about, and I said right from the beginning it was EPI.
Regarding temprement changes, yes I do think this can happen although many say not. My old dog Shadow was a total sweetheart all his life, he even had a fan club, what a shepherd.... but from 9 onwards I did not trust him with kids or other dogs, he was not the dog we had known all his life. I do think it has to do with the feelings of being ill and the need to protect themselves. Josh was never dog aggressive until this started in March this year and it has been a nightmare getting him to behave with other dogs. He is not trustworthy off the lead with other dogs but he will ignore them on the lead now.
Hope the info on the site is of some help
Avril
