Much of the gulf area, including Houston, is without power. I don't know exactly where she lived, but hopefully she is only dealing with power outages etc and both she and her dogs are fine.

Thank God I and all my family and furry bunch are all ok...Down many trees, and I held my breathe for about 24 hours , while Mahon was on the road , his wife held his house and dogs down , while my son and I watch 100 foot oak tree fall 20 ft from my window in my sun room.. 5 kennels were 10 ft to the left of this tree and it fell up hill. My property is full of trees and I went out about an hour before the eye, and it was still..Most of the damage was ahead of the eye...and the hind end was less..different than by the sea or galveston.
Now for the bad news..My partners home on S1/2 , a two story home , my domain is on ground floor when I am there, was covered to the ROOF with water.
AS OF YESTERDAY, the water on her street was still chest deep and today it is waist deep. SHe and Myah and her husband are in HOuston, with out elect. no water, as there son didnt know it was going to be a killer storm..As far as deaths, few of those,,but the media has not even given anyone the real truth of what Galveston has had done to it...Mayor refuses to let anyone in and has demanded everyone out....
Rats , snakes, fish , dead and alive are all over the island.., barges, boats small and large are lodged in homes, on land , in the roadways, on the freeways and some are hundreds of miles inland as far as my former home land , LaMarque.
No food, no electricity , and UTMB is not up for treating the sick and hurt, and the causeways safety is now in question, even the new side they just build...Until the Corp of Engineers can asses it...no one will even think of releasing it to be driven on except by a few trucks at a time...I do not know how they are going to restore this place...I am so glad Im in East Texas. One note of concern, my son has killed 6 copperheads in three nights now...Hip boots for me...no more shoes or flip flops...
Even we were in danger for 24 hours or so...Flying trees, metals, you name it and flooding of low lying creeks, which didnt even bother me...I am on a hill...It has taken my son, with his one leg only , two days , and pain pills galore, to mow, mulch, and my daughter and her family came with chain saw to remove the tree and today the lights and phone are now on...I am blessed and have no complaints. I actually played like we were camping and moved my barbque pit with a burner , inside my sun room and cooked on it...My electric appliances pull to much amps /watts to use on generator , as my whole house was being run by it..My son , an electrician , by trade before his foot split open, wired it into the box properly to run the house kennels and barn and nursery., opting out at times , to run the well...when needed only...
My generator was my prize possession. My new puppy could not have come home if Mahon had not been going to get his new girl , a Timo daughter,,,Vella , because airports are closed in HOuston and Dallas until further notice..
Sons home is a ok and he lost a tree , but his friend is there to keep looters out...In Santa Fe the Police Dept, decided to make it known, that if you are caught looting in Sante Fe , you go to a jail with no a/c or heat and no bed...floor is yours....
So first night 5, were accommidated with those arrangements...Maybe they will be the only ones...

Hi Rose,
Glad to see your doing ok, Ike kicked our ass's all the way up here in Indiana, just got power back an hour ago.
Down tree's everywhere. We didn't even get half his strength and it was bad.. Can't even imagine what it was like there.
A friend died here yesterday clearing tree's and another hurt today doing the same. I don't know how she is doing yet, they took her out by chopper. You be careful yourself.
Shoot the looter's I say, no lower form of life.
Brent.

Brent, we also got hammered in Ohio. I have a duplex that has a tree sitting on it and about 30,000.00 in damage. Luckily no one was home when the tree came down. We also lost electric. These were 50 to 60 mile and hour winds, I can't imagine what they went through in Texas.

YR- so glad to hear from you! I knew some ol' wind bag wouldn't get YOU down! Seriously, so glad you're OK! jackie harris
