I know many of you impacted by the storm are w/o electricity, but those of you who can please check in w/the board.  I often thought of the people and pets that would be affected by this storm, it would be nice to hear from some of you.

Yes, I'm worried, too. Didn't see your thread when I asked for a 'shout'....haven't heard from Yellowrose or iluvmygsd for a couple days now....in fact quite a few voices have been missing......jh

Many of us have been deeply affected by Ike in the Houston and surrounding areas.  A larger oak crashed into the home of one dear club member who is evacuating to Arkansas with his wife and two GSDs.  Most of us in the huricanne Ike's onslaught have no electricity.  Our cell phones are working sporadically if at all,  We have reached very few in our club to obtain news.  Roads are blocked and flooded.  Gas and open stores are rare commodity. What a challenge getting ready for 7 dogs and two Nubian Goats.  Stocking up on food and water was a priority.  Windows boarded.   Vehicles placed in strategic places in case one was incapacitated.  Wishing you had evacuatied - but it was too late with highways gridlocked.  Remebering the death trap for people and animals during Rita. It was frigtening.  All dogs were brought into our home.  The sounds of wind and crashing trees was scary.  Hour after hour you could hear the roar.  A lot of time spent in prayer and quoting the 91 Psalm which brought comfort and hope.  When it was all said and done our seven acres looks like a war zone with so many, many trees down.  One half of our kennel building was destroyed by Oak trees.  Fences and plumping were damaged by plummeting trees. One of our vehicles was under rubble of trees and fallen roof, but is going to be OK.  Power out!  Even so, we are deeply grateful.  Dogs and goats healthy, happy, safe, and so are we!  Thank you Lord!  We worry about those club members who we have not heard!

I am so glad you are alright Family Tackett. I am praying that the rest of our friends in the path of the storm and their beloved animals are not seriously injured, suffering major damages, despite their intelligent preparations in advance of the storm. I wish I lived closer so I could come help ya'll pick up the pieces.

Livingston, Polk County Texas checking in, we were devestated and even now are just now getting access to gas, Power is expected to be out for at least 2 -3 weeks in the outlying areas. Some areas are still blocked by trees downed. My sis evacuated up here from Kemah with her kids and pets. Her home was completely destroyed ( rental) she is now in a fema hotel until she can figure out what she can do, all she has left are her clothes that her son stuffed in a bag on the way out the door. I have her dogs here with me since they cannot be at the hotel, they will be here until she is able to get into a place.

Has anyone heard from TriCounty K9??
Therese
