I have a dilemma, My 2yr old GSD was stolen from me during a daytime house robbery in Oct, '07. I let the fallowing 6 mos consume me in his search. He was only a family dog, not a mean bone in his body, however VERY apprehensive with new people, especially men.  Anyway, the search has slowed down some, but at this point, I am just hoping he found a good home with some nice old lady and is her best friend. Two days ago, I went to the local shelter website and saw a picture of a sable male. They are closed until Tuesday, so I cannot go look for myself. I was hoping maybe you all could take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. I am attaching a picture from the shelter, and a few pictures from me. The legs and chest are what is throwing me off. BUT, he could have filled out nicely over almost a years time..... So what do you think?

Sorry for your situation.  It's really horrible.  From the pictures it's hard to tell.  The dog in the shelter photo doesn't seem to have as good an ear set as your other pictures, but the shelter picture isn't very good.  A lot of times they don't take the best pictures to represent each dog; just a quick pic.  The shelter dog also looks like it's darker than yours.  It would be great if it was your dog, but I think you'll have to wait and go in person to make sure.

Good Luck!

Well, I tried to hide his wide set with the pictures I did take, but it did not always work... here are some "not so good" pics.

Don Corleone

I doubt it.  The dog in the first pic looks like a very dark blk sable.  Your dog looks lighter and I doubt it would darken that much.

Why not give the boy a good home regardless of whether it is yours or not.  Things happen for a reason.  Perhaps your search was meant to find this dog.

Sorry, I don't think this is your dog but Don Corleone... what a nice way of thinking... yes, why not give him a good home?

Good point! I did not think about that! OH AND THE DRAMA AT HOME WITH THE ROOMIE, that will be trouble  !!!! HAHAHAHA! Ruger my 1 yr old boy is very dog friendly, so we'll see.

I will take a look at him on Tue. If he fits and is not my boy, I will consider it. I will keep everyone updated.

Hi,

I too understand your situation, and feel your sorrow.  The dog in the shelter has pencil markings on his feet, from what I can see, and yours does not.  Sables do darken with age, but pencil markings are there at birth and usually stay.

I also agree with Don, and things do happen for a reason, give the dog a good home.  I know you have love to give in memory of your stolen dog, and I am sure he will have all the love you need right back to you.

Sincerely,

Rebecca

HI

DOESN'T SEEM TO BE SAME DOG.

YOUR DOG IS BEAUTIFUL.

I HAD SAME THING HAPPEN VERY LONG TIME AGO. IT TOOK ME A WHILE, BUT I GOT HER BACK.

THE THINGS PEOPLE DO!

SOMETIMES JUST PUTTING IT ON A LOCAL RADIO CHANNEL WILL HELP AND THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER.

EXPLAIN THE SITUATION IN WHICH IT OCCURED AND PUT REWARD IN LARGE LETTERS. YOU DON'T HAVE TO PUT A

DOLLAR AMOUNT. THEN WHEN THEY CALL WHICH WILL BE A SNITCH, HE WILL WANT TO GET THE MONEY. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SMARTER. DON'T GIVE ANY CASH TIL DOG GETS IN CAR. AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PICTURES IN

HAND OF HIM AND ANY OTHER PROOF LIKE MICROCHIP # OR TATTOO INFO. JUST IN CASE SOMEONE CALLS

POLICE IN CASE OF TROUBLE.  I WENT THROUGH ALL OF THIS.

I WILL PRAY YOU GET HIM BACK.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED ? I COULD KEEP EYES AND EARS OPEN.
