Good story.
My 8 month old has been answering the 'phone for a few months now,nobody showed her how to do it either.
Our 'phone has got a button on it that puts the caller onto the external speaker when it is pressed.
She's always first through the hallway to answer the 'phone,hope she doesn't learn to dial out.
