Why is it that I read on this site so often about so many problems regarding paperwork on dogs?
I personally would not buy a dog or puppy if the paperwork was not all available and fully checked before purchase.
It is amazing that so many people pay HUGE amounts of money for a dog and don't get the paperwork at the time of purchase or have a big problem trying to get them after purchase?
Why hand over the money without the correct documentation?
I personally would rather wait for the dog until all of the paper work was ready.
Usually we are not talking pet people but quite often we are talking about those that should know better.
I Just don't understand why everyone is so trusting.

Out of curiousity, after how long does one receive the registration from the club after handling over documents

Speaking from experience, many problems arise from lack of understanding the registration system. To my knowledge there is no published information where the public can go that outlines the complete process to register a dog. Probably because there are too many variables to publish a list.
If a female is imported bred and delivers 10 days after arrival; depending on circumstances, chances are the puppies will not have papers until they are 6 months or so old.
Here's a contest! See who gets closest to the answer.
Female leased to breeder A. Owner sells female with Breeder A's permission by paying the stud fee for the male. Owner signs the pink papers correctly.
How long does it take to AKC register the litter?

Howdy,
if you intend to buy a 8 week old puppy from Germany, you will not recieve the paperwork with the puppy. This is not because the breeder is not willing to provide them to you, but for other reasons. I will try shed some light on it for you:
Puppys will get tatooed not earlier than their 50th day of life. The breeder can only now fill out the proper paperwork for the SV. He will then submitt the paperwork, "Wurfmeldeschein", "Tätowier controll streifen", "Deckschein". (Litter registration form, Tatoo controll strip, Stud certificat) to the SV. At the SV they will wait till the tatoo guy also submits his paperwork.
Now it depends also a great deal on the fact, how much of a workload the SV has at the time. Multiple litter registrations, mayor events pending or the aftermath of events. (BSZS; BSZ). Also, the DNA, has to be verfied.....
When the SV has completed all this, and has made out the pedigrees, they will be send back to the breeder, because he has to recheck everything and he has to sign on the frontpage. He also has to sign at the last page, that he sold the Pup to you.
The breeder now can send you the paperwork. Beside the pedigree, the breeder should send you with the Pup the bokklet where the vaccination is recorded. But the booklet, along with a certificat of health, is pretty much the only things that he can provide you with, if the Pup is send over at 8 weeks.
With all this said, it can take up to 8 weeks for the breeder to get the paperwork from the SV - so I think to wait for the paperwork for 8-10 weeks is reasonable, but dont be upset if it even takes longer. Try to communicate with your breeder, and hopefully you & the breeder can work through it together.
