ok
with all the talk about breeding into a bottleneck (which I totally agree and have bitched about since I started 15 years ago), and creating basically 1 line, I would like to hear people's opinions on Top or Upcoming young dogs who carry alternative lines. compared to all the Ursus and Bad Boll stuff we are seeing so linebred upon?
who are the young dogs, both male and female, to be watching and using? I have my own ideas on a few dogs, but would love other peoples opinions.
also, I have seen quite a few, gorgeous show/working blends that could benefit this breed, but they do not get used much except by their breeders and possibly local people who have seen the dogs.
to me, this is a beautiful example of a show/work cross: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/553155.html

Nice appearance, good pigment. I would want to see his hip and elbow xrays at 24 months or older (pedigree suggests some hip issues could be a factor). Also a better photo from the side at a straight perpendicular angle. No dog is perfect and his tailset appears a bit too high. But he does have an attractive appearance. It is always best to see a dog in person, see his temperament and see how he moves from the front, rear and side and view his progeny before coming to conclusions. Also passing a breed survey can help one ascertain a dogs quality.

Salto is a beautiful dog and one I have been watching closely. but are there others who don't have common ancestors to everyone else in the 6th and 7th gen. I understand eventually you will run into common ancestors but is there no dogs today who go back further without being closely related to everyone else's dogs?
