it has too do with the number of posters who show up, screw up, get fed up, and then pack up and leave.
its like a nasty circle of life. it keeps on happening and for the most part the people we try and educate move on when they start to find out how much training, learning, et.al. goes on before we breed.
no wonder so many people get tired of wasting there time on people who seem to never learn, and it seems there is a never ending line of people who show up.
more people should show up, shut up, listen up and learn.
oh well, another 5 minutes of my life wasted typing this.

You have it correctly defined. It gets old. And it is a waste of time. Most people only want to read what they want to read, not learn. So many come here to bolster their business be it breeding dogs, supposedly training dogs or selling something else, or to seek absolution for the breedings they should never have had with dogs who themselves are less than stellar examples of the breed in any way, or tell about how they got screwed in some deal because they did not use common sense. Most posters with something to contribute get discouraged and would probably rather have a root canal than keep punishing themselves here. But there are a few die hards...

Let me tell you what I think.
PARADIGMS, its very difficult to change and will vary from where the person had been bought up and the culture that one is used too.
While some may think it is right, some may think its wrong. IF one is advise, it should be done politely explaining why they are doing it wrongly without any bitch slapping.
Yes, it does get fustrating advising ppl but this is a good teachers/mentors job.

On the flip side, if the so-called educator sucks, then get out fast. There are so many people out there who are so called educators who have ulterior motives and had not achieved nothing but happiness can be achieved if you buy their dog!

Yeah crazydog, I think thats just the thing. I've seen a lot of the so called advise on this site, which is generally very cruel and a punch in the face. Advice does not have to come in a cruel mannor. I've screwed up before, and got a so called beating for it, but I still get on here for occasional advice to read and post a few things. I guess to me it's like....it's in the past, I learned from it, lets move on. Basically forgive and forget.. Some people never let things go though, even if the person has changed, and I've seen that on this site which I think keeps even more people away.

Yes, It is those "Know it alls" that are nasty and downright pissy, that run good people off lists.
Sad, really, when they might actually have some knowledge to impart-----but who wants to listen to people calling them stupid, idiots, liars, and whatever else....

It's funny that you posted this. I was thinking the other day, that Oli should pin a thread to the top of the board for new posters/lurkers. Maybe with instructions on how to search past threads on the messageboard.
It seems like the same topics get re-shuffled into the deck every few months. Pano? Is Solid gold good? Raw? Puppy imprinting? Show vs. Working?
I come on here alot less than I used too. 1. I'm busy. 2. It's the same stuff over and over and 3. There really aren't any topics on training, behaivior, problem solving, etc. Those are what interest me. Not, all of the fluff.
I know alot of sites have different sections/pages that seperate the catagories. I think it would help if this site had different sections. Maybe one for training, one for shows, one for general topics and others that I can't think of. I think this would keep the posters around. When you have to sift through the garbage, it becomes old.
