Am I just " Lucky" ?

The are breaking where welded to the frame..

I was planning to reweld them and reinforce with some extra steel but was wondering if anyone one else had this happen before? and how did you deal with it thanks in advance..

Damn corgi mix...

Thanks in advance jeff

Its a common problem. Many of my friends dogs have broken there meshes, you need to use good bars that run horizontally to prevent breakage. atleast pencil thick

I agree with carzydog,

Go for a heavier gauge panel.

The welding on most welded cages is subpar at best. Jeff if you fed that mix he would not want out all the time.

Jeff,

Wire crate kennels are notorious for popping at the joints.  I remember years ago someone posted about some SchH3 dog that got so cranked during bitework he popped the welds on his wire crate.  At the time, in my ignorance, I thought "Ooo Ahhh".

Now having owned a few wire crate kennels, I know that the welds can pop loose just from fatigue, especially in a wire crate that's been bouncing along in the back of a truck for a few years.  I found a few loose welds on the crates that we have right now in our Honda.

My recipe for a quick but effective fix... zip ties.  Any welds that I find popped I wrap with 1/4" zip ties and I've never had one break on me afterwards.  Cheap, easy, effective.  That's been my experience.

i love the magnum kennels from behen, but unfortunately they are famous for the welds breaking away from the frames.  the last time we had them repaired, we put angle iron reinforcement (welded)  to the frames.  so far, so good.  jim, took matching spray paint and and gave them a good coat.  they look super and are much stronger now.  i think we have the problem solved.

Thanks ziegenfarm thats what I was considering.. did you weld the angle on just one side or both?

Its not a crate its the kennel... He does whatever he can to get out... goes over the top, chain link he will bite and chew,  this one he just kept bouncing off of (at least thats my guess) This one was bad because its not my kennel was at a freinds place he had an open kennel (now a bit more open) and returned to cupcake being in process of breaking out. My freind just wants me to help him fix the kennel...
