Had a nice day at the club today, coming home was an adventure.  We're hosting the AWMA Nationals in a couple weeks so worked dogs and got the field ready.  It's spiffed up nicely!  My two girls are coming along well with some consistent work and the one is transitioning to me better all the time, I wonder if letting her sleep on the bed with me is helping....

I took the big rig today since I was taking with a bunch of stuff. one ton dually extended cab, 10' camper, 10' cargo trailer with my dogs and all the various stuff.   The truck is a 2001 diesal with low miles, strong get you anywhere truck.  Except today..    I was a couple miles from the club close to getting on the freeway when I went to shift down at a light.  Clutch peddle broke..........Can't shift a 6-speed with no clutch peddle.  So here I am, in the right turn lane, not moving.  Got our TD to stop as moral support and one of the other guys stopped also.  The one guy zip tied things together enough for me to get to a parking lot instead of the street, which made the local fire department and local police departments very happy, both were there also....  With the right parts it would have been a fairly simple fix.  In the meantime I knew there was a reason I have AAA Plus.  Called them up and had two tow trucks to bring me home.  My normal 50 minute trip was over 3-hours.  But all safe and sound.  Truck goes to the shop tomorrow!  And AAA gets renewed again for sure.  And once again, if you're going to have vehicle problems, that was not a bad spot to break down, sunny day too.

I'm finding positives today.

I have AAA-Plus-RV. Very good towing the van, forever needing it, but they refused to touch the trailer.

Shelly, I had no issues with them towing the trailer also.  I researched carefully the various plans and that's why I sent the with AAA-Plus-RV.  I wonder if you had a local company that just didn't want to honor it.

Brent, why the sarcasim?  At least this wasn't as off topic as some lately.  Having mechanical breakdowns when you have animals with you is a definate problem.  I like to know when something works as advertised and for me this did.

Tina,

I am with you on that!!   A mechanical malfunctioon could hit any of us at any time and odds are that we will have one or more dogs with us at the time.   Anyone who trains or shows can relate.  I have had it happen to me and that's why I have AAA (Lord knows the hotel discount is worthless!!)
