How good is your dogs pedigree?
I have seen so many dogs having just names in there pedigree i.e untitled dogs that nobody know like Jack and Jill.Yet they are KC registered. I know that the KC wil register any dog off registered parents or if a dog show judge will even accept a non papered dog as pure bred.
Would you consider such or dog or look for a dog with a very good pedigree?
Does anybody know the meaning of highly pedigree?

Crazydog, speaking from experience, entering a pedigree on this site requires a lot of darn hard work and persistence, especially if the dogs are AKC or CKC registered, as there aren't as many dogs from those registries listed. It can be VERY difficult to get info about titles, colour and hip status from dogs further back in your dog's pedigree, and many people just don't care enough to put in the effort needed to dig this stuff up. So, it may NOT be a matter of a lot of untitled dogs from BYB's, it may just be laziness or lack of time on the part of the person entering the info, or the information may just not be available unless you have access to the AKC's red books, or the SV's records. And that can cost a fair chunk of cash to purchase!

pedigree is good idea, any pedigree. get too picky price goes up very fast. pretty soon you have expensive import bloodlines with puppies costing mucho dinero. buy de dog not de pedigree.

Good dogs are where you find them. Many good dogs of different breeds have been found running the streets, or in a pound. These said dogs were given a fancy, false ped and used to perpetuate different breeds. Well bred pups and dogs may end up in situations where no one is aware the dog ever had a good ped.
Now, I'm not advocating running to the pound or streets to find a breeding prospect, and start falsifying papers, but it has been done. The great majority of the time, the ped can and will show you what you can expect from the dog it belongs to.

Oops, guess I misunderstood your post, though what I said still stands...
Yes, agree with Preston...pedigree does not automatically mean you're going to win ribbons!
I used to be very involved with Engish riding, and when riding my grade Arab mare, which I purchased for a dollar, always reminded myself that a Connemara pony won an Olympic medal for the U.K. (Marianne Coakes and Stroller) and that a former milk wagon horse, rescued from a truck bound for the slaughterhouse competed in international jumping competitions for the U.S.A. (Harry de Leyer and Snowman)!

My dog has a stellar pedigree (for what I want in a dog). If someone else is looking for VA material, they aren't going to think it's stellar. Depends on what you are interested in doing with the dog. If you plan to breed, you better have that planned out and know the dogs in that ped, what they produce and have a plan on what kind of dogs will compliment that pedigree. Right now for me, pedigree is very important, tells me allot about what is behind the dog. If the ped in not correct or has dogs I do not recognize, that doesn't help the situation. If the ped is all you have to go on, it better be nice. On the other hand if the dog is terrific, who cares what that piece of paper says? (until you go to breed it)

I keep quite a few pedigrees of famous Champion GSD's. When I get a shitbred dog, I always set them down and show them a Fake Champion ped. I explain to them , that this is their pedigree, and they have no equal. This seems to improve their attitude immediately, and does wonders for their self esteem.

I prefer a good dog with a good pedigree.
However, I would take a good dog with a lacking pedigree over a bad dog with a good pedigree.

Abhay,
Your a champion of motivation. I bet all your dog's carry themselve with head's held high. I never thought of that, good idea.
A great pedigree is a wonderful start, but the dog may have other idea's. Paper or no, I wanna see the dog, know the dog, then I'd say if the pedigree held water or not. I'm not talking about showline's here.
A pedigree will give you a good idea of what to expect, but a lack luster pedigree wont. You gotta give those dog's a chance to prove the paper's wrong and they can sometime's.
