You cant just feed raw chicken. You have to have bones, muscle meats and organ meat,s, fish oil or sallmon oil, liver or heart of calves , occasIonal egg, and if you use a professional grinder you can grind all the meats up, including ribs , rack of lamb, etc and package in 30 day packages for about 50.00 a month.
Read the other thread about the recipes for raw feeding and use one that will work for you...many of them ..but you have to include the three kinds of meats , regardless.

Here in Texas, we have lots of different stores to shop for meat bargains and my partner is in Galveston. We buy when they put briskets on sale and ribs and chicken quarters, and right now most of the stores are hot on sales as the economy has people watching there pennies..so easy to get meat cheaper right now. Some butcher houses will give you boxes of meat ready to grind and set you a reasonable price. We just seize the moment , and grind right then and freeze , ahead,,,only way to save. Some weeks I dont have extra money , so I have to wait. I dont have a grinder yet, but for Christmas,. on my list.

ROYAL CANIN every time!!!!! Isn't there a danger that raw chicken has Salmonella or E, Coli etc... ?
I have been using Royal Canin for almost thirty years and have never had any trouble with it. It is very palatable, and has a good balance of vitamins and minerals, nothing needs to be added. If you do add meat etc... then you risk unbalancing the feed.

I've heard (read) it said that the worst raw diet is better that the best cooked, cr*p in a bag.. And no, dogs are not susceptible to the bacterias of Salmonella or E Coli. Humans are, so take adequate human safety precautions. Buy whole chickens with the giblets and feed roughly half a chicken per adult female daily. Males need a bit more. We have done it for years now and while chicken isn't the ideal raw diet it beats the heck out of any kibble on the market!!!! I take my raw fed pack's level of fitness for granted daily and they are in classes up against kibble fed dogs weekly (weakly).
I don't grind anything. The dogs are well equiped with grinding equipment of their own. We have a kibble fed dog here at the moment and he has a need to chew that my chicken eaters have never had. It's well satisfied by their food every day. I do give my dogs eggs and organ meat weekly, but sometimes I do forget, and their coats are nice and shiny with no baths, their teeth are clean with no brushing and they do not have much doggy odor.
