Well my new little dog came in last night. Like the saying goes....be careful what you wish for
Unloaded her from the plane into my truck. Stopped around the corner to let her out to pee. She looked at me out of the corner of her eye as if to say, "who the hell are you". No outright aggression but enough to keep me from sticking my hand in the crate right away. I took her home and opened the crate inside the kennel. She bounced out and kind of ran to the bakc of the kennel. Not fear, but suspicion. Supposedly she has not been off the breeders property before this. I sat down with some treats and she warmed up to me in about 5 minutes. Took her for a little walk. I live on a pretty bust street but she was not scared of the traffic at all.
The good
1) She is a freaken nut job. I didn't have a doghouse so I left the crate in her kennel. She attacked it like it was a decoy. This morning a whole corner was gone.
2) She carries suspicion. She will be a sharp dog.
3) She is small (50lbs soaking wet if she is lucky) very fast, agile and a bit crazy. Just how I like 'em
4) If the pedigree is correct (and that's a big if) great bloodlines. I know the first two generations are correct. Still re-searching the rest. Her grand sire on Mom's side (she is 2-2 in breed on mom) is a dog named Rocky. If it is the Rocky I am thinking Oh boy. Competed in the KNPV nationals.
The bad
1) She is a freaking nut job. She flipped her water bowl and tried to kill it. I don't know how I am going to water her probablu going to have to get a livestock trough.
2) She is waaaaaaay to much for my shepherd. My shepherd likes to play with other dogs, but this one she sniffed and went to the back of her kennel with a look like "what the hell is wrong with this dog?"
3) She looks as though she is a bit of an escape artist. She bolted between my legs the fist time I opened the kennel. She pushed hard on the chain link, and was looking for a way to jump out. I put a top on the kennel cuz the breeder says she can jump a 6' fence from a sit.
4) She is pretty homely. I think she will get better when she fills out. But pretty is as pretty does.
I got my hands full with this one. I think we will have alot of fun.
Her name is Pandora. As in don't open Pandora's box.
