well, just from looking at their site, and the #'s of imports they have forsale, yes I would say they were a broker.  but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.  ALOT of american breeders will provide import services to clients. some just do it on a much larger scale than others.  and there are some out there, that, this is all the do.  they just bring dogs over from germany to sell. JMO.  I have been told that anytime a breeder sells dogs, or imports strictly for re-sell, then you should consider them a broker.  I would like to know how much they know about each individual dog that they have imported and have posted forsale.  if they can tell you alot about the individual dogs and have spent time with them , then I probably wouldn't have issue buying from them.

Its the people who mass import with just the sole intention to re-sell that I take issue with.  most of the time they do not spend alot of individual time with the dogs and can not give you an accurate view of the dogs temperament, traits or qwaurks ect.

Anytime you purchase a dog strictly to re-sell, I believe you can be called a broker.

I am a firm believer in "trust your gut". If you have to ask...what is your gut saying?????

I forgot to add, you're in the pre-hospital field and have to rely on instinct with patients don't you??? (having done it for umpteen million years, I know I rely on gut instict).  You can just tell when something isn't right, am I correct??? What does your gut tell you about this???  Trust it like you would at work.

during my search for a GSD I went to see this person about a dog, I didn't end up getting one for two reasons, one I didn't get a good feel for the whole process and 2m he said I din't qualify for one of his dogs.

I liked the dogs he had to show me, both adults, he and his wife were nice, but NO guarentee as he said his dogs breeding spoke for itself......... but anywho the reason I asked if he was a broker was because until I found this site I didn't know what that meant,

Thank you

Cindy

you didn't qualify for one of his dogs? did he give you a good reason, or is it he didn't think you could afford one?  no offense, cause I know I couldn't afford one of his dogs.  from his site, I get the jist he sells to "elite" owners, meaning people who are waaay out of my tax bracket

he didn't think I had enough appreciation for his breeding program, or enough knowledge of the breed...... I also got the feeling that he did not like me asking about a guarantee, as he told me that he didn't need one

There is a guy in Sonoma County who is what I think of when I hear dog broker. He buys whole litters of any breed cheap and sells them at top best of breed prices. If they are not AKC registered he registers them with Contenintal Kennel Club, most people wouldn't know the difference.

He claims that he knows all the breeders personally, though I know for a fact that he searches newspapers in the state for cheep that he can sell high. He has some good stories he tells the people selling the puppies why he wants so many.

He bought 4 unregistered chihuahua pups from a friend of mine, "For my daughter", within a week they were on his website as registered championline and triple what he paid for them.

This is what I think of when I hear broker. His website even says, if you don't see the breed you want i'll get it for you, and there are lots of breeds on his website.

If I can find the website again I'll post it. One look and it is obvious that this is a broker. He'll sell anything to anybody for very high prices.
