AKGeorgias mom

A little background - I got my dog as a rehome from her breeder at 2 years old.  Her original owner didn't do any training, and of course she was out of control!  We've been doing training with one of the local schutzhund clubs and I would like to send for USA papers and scorebook in the next few months; we won't be doing any trails until next year because our season is so short (the last trial this year is in two weeks).

I have her AKC papers (limited registration) but I can only read the first two numbers of her tattoo.  Anyone have any tips on how to read the rest of it?  I can see it in her ear but between the fur and her squirming I can't read it.

TIA,

Opal

Shine a high powered flashlight from the out side to the inside of the ear.  Sometimes it helps to shave the hair off first.

Thanks - it looks like I'm going to have to recruit my husband to help!

The breeder should know aht the tattoo is supposed to be.

If not, wait till you do her hip and elbow x-rays, then try to ID the tattoo while the dog is either sedated or lightly tranquilized. If the tattoo is still illegible, do it over while the dog is under. Its okay to use the other ear as long as the procedure (and why it was performed)  is noted with the registering organization.
