I am sure we have members is the gulf coast region of the USA. I can't imagine what you are going through right now. I hope all of you, your families and your dogs make it through safe and sound. Probably most of you are too busy right now to be on your computers reading message boards, but if there are any members with kennels who have the time and inclination, can you tell us what your kennel evacuation plans are or preparations to stay are in a situation like this?

I don't live down there, but I did see preparations to evacuate pets, so people don't feel compelled to stay this time. The news report showed a bus waiting to load a large number of pet carriers. I heard about one woman last time, who loaded her EIGHTEEN toy dogs in her van, and headed out to her mother's house hundreds of miles away. She had left well before Katrina hit, and got away safely.
Thank goodness this time the disaster planners are respecting people's love for their animals, and their unwillingness to abandon them.
