Ok,,,,,I have a few quesitons.

1.  Why is this being done on a surface (pine table top) that is difficult to keep clean, or steril?

2.  Why isn't this vet wearing gloves?  Couldn't the undersides of her finger nails harbor bacteria or disease from another dog?  I would be really pissed if bruc. (or anyother bacterial disease) was transmitted to my dog durring this procedure!  At minimum I would EXPECT a veterinarian to AT LEAST glove up!

Maybe I am just ignorant but this video makes me think of back alley abortions.

My vet showed me how to do it and watched my first few times to make sure I had it down.  Just make sure you stay toward the top otherwise you're likely to go into the bladder. Not that bad a deal if the bitch is handleable.

Does anyone have access to a video for surgical implants?

I believe the dog had ACE to stand like that or some other drug to relax her.

A whole new world is out there in reproduction, cloning and whatever.

I am very sure my wildass high drive girl would need serious sedation!  However, if I ever breed her artificially, I've already decided that surgical implantation is the way I will go.  And that means a knockout.

I have to admit, mine was my bonded baby, she would allow me to do anything as long as I was the only one in the room.  Would not allow males to mount because she is so damn freaking high drive wildly dominant that it borders on the exasperating sometimes.  I never wanted to take the chance of injury to anyone.  She is as gentle as a lamb on ketamine when I have to do anything with her.  I would recomend calm strong people the dog knows to help out and get her used to having her privates touched and such.  Melatonin is wonderful, I use it with my thunderstorm scaredy cat....3mg every 8 hours in a dog 35-100 lbs and get the vegetarian. Great at calming them down without the drugged side effects.
