We would like to share our recent experience we have had with another breeder that we sold a puppy to. This breeder [and I use the term extremely loosely] approached me to buy a approximately 4-month-old bitch puppy that I had run on. The breeder liked the puppy, and she was quite happy with the contract we had for her, and she signed it after having it explained to her, and I was quite happy for the puppy to go home with her. My contracts are usually designed for pet owners, as I prefer to sell my puppies to lifelong pet homes. In the 20 years we have been showing and breeding I have only ever sold three pups to show homes including this one. In the pet contract the pups are endorsed with export and breeding restrictions, and our contract states that these restrictions will never be lifted not under any circumstances, in fact everything that we keep for ourselves are also endorsed until they have had their hips done, and we have decided that they are good enough to show and then possibly breed from. Because this breeder wanted to mainly show and then possibly take a litter from this bitch pup in the future, I changed the contents in the contract to say that when the bitch pup reached 18 months old, and she had her hips done and they come back with a satisfactory score we would lift the breeding restriction so that this breeder could take a litter of the bitch in the future. This breeder seemed to us to be more interested in showing than breeding and we trusted her implicitly with this puppy, but she fooled us completely. I know a lot of breeders mate bitches at 18 months, and I am not saying that this is wrong, everybody has different ideas, but we don’t. The breeder did get the bitches hips done and they came back with a good score so we were pleased and obviously so was she. I went to Leicester champ show on the 28th of June 2008 and the breeder had the bitch entered and she looked well. At this show the bitch was only 16 months old, her date of birth is 20th February 2007. A couple of weeks before the bitch was 18 months I got an email to ask me to lift the breeding endorsement on the bitch, as the breeder wanted to mate her because she was in season. I was quite shocked at this and emailed back stating that we weren’t very happy at doing this, but it did state in the contract that I would lift it at 18 months. As it happened I did not get around to contacting the kennel club straight away, and oh my god am I glad I didn’t. I heard it on the grape vine from a few people, that I should do a little bit of investigating and check out when in fact this bitch was actually in season. To cut the story short, the facts are that the bitch was in season at Leicester champ [16 months old in junior bitch] and a few days later on the 3rd of July 2008 the breeders mated her, and then a second mating again on the 4th. When we approached the breeder they stated that this was a accidental mating, as they were moving house and it just happened, but we know categorically that this is a lie and these were planned mattings, and the breeder has shot herself in the foot by coming on GSD forums and putting comments likes this in print.
right we all do it and keep records of how long the dog and bitch are tied for, just out of curiosity what are your experiences how long did your ties last for we did a mating today and it was 10:39 till 11:50am this morning both of us sitting here having lunch and coffee now dont think we can move after all that.LOVING GSD’S 3/7/2008 2.05pm

right thats it tomorrow will be reading a book tonight the same again 16:55pm till 18:05 if there aint no pups after this then I'm going into toy pomsGSD FANATICS 3/7/2008 2.38pm
They also advertised the fact that the bitch has been scanned and was carrying 10 plus puppies on their web site, which has now disappeared.
Another poster asked who the breeder had mated, and to cover herself she said it was her other bitch,
its my delli welli and Toro GSD FANATICS3/7/2008 4.45PM
The sire is correct though; it’s her own dog.
The lies that this breeder has told me are absolutely unbelievable.
I have now been in contact with the Kennel Club and they are looking into this matter very seriously, they have asked for copies of all the threads on the forums, the contract that she signed with us, all the details off their web site, which I did get before they removed it, and details of their other dogs, just in case any of them discover a litter of puppies in their beds.
Without a signed contract I would not have been able to do anything at all about this PUPPY HAVING A LITTER OF PUPPIES.

So did you lift your restrictions? I would at 18 months, but you can't OFA a dog until they are 2 yrs or 24 month old so how did she have the bitches hips done.
by B.Andersen on 30 August 2008 - 18:08
In Europe dogs hips are rated at a one year. It is only OFA that wants to see a two year xray

Yes I understand the in Europe they do things like reting hips at a year Although I thought it was at 18 months

Maybe she means that her prelims were done at 18 months. I also sell all my pups on a limited contract until at least the prelims are done, but after reading this I'm going to change it to say until the OFA at 2 yrs of age. I couldn't handle someone doing a breeding that young.

in the uk you get your dogs hips/elbows scored at 12months of age

Personally I think it shows what poor ethics that person has. A 16 month old GSD is not mature enough and the Breed Council Breeders Charter states 20 months as the earliest a bitch should be mated.
You should post this person's details a case of name and shame. Good luck with your work with the Kennel Club.
Back the title of your thread. I have signed contracts with 2 breeders and they endorsed the dogs and the endorsement would only be lifted on the following terms:
Hip scores below 20 and that if male it had 2 descended testicles. The dogs also have to be good examples of the breed in mnd and body and the owner has to give reasons for using the said stud / bitch.

GHOSTLY
No i didnt and i wont ever lift it, no matter what. I have been told to many lies, i carnt stop her from breeding from her, but she wont be able to register the litters with the kennel club, and i will stay on her like a rash, she will really regret the day she did those matings.
