ProMeris - Adverse Reactions or Urban Legend?
Wednesday April 23, 2008
A veterinary technician and former colleague forwarded an email to me and others, warning about serious adverse reactions after using ProMeris brand flea and tick control. Typical for an urban legend, the incident happened to someone else and she was unsure if the email was true, but felt that the warning was worthwhile. According to David Emery, the About.com Guide to Urban Legends, the circulating ProMeris email is currently classified as "unresolved."
Whether this particular incident happened or not, it is important to mention here that any drug or treatment, taken orally or topically, prescription or over-the-counter, has the potential to cause an adverse reaction. The same is true even if the medication was administered previously without problem. For this reason, if I need to medicate my pets, I always like to give the medication while I will be present; at least for an hour or two, if possible.
If you suspect that your pet is having or has had an adverse reaction, please call your veterinarian immediately. If you have questions about safety or reactions, please contact the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) about pesticides such as ProMeris and other flea and tick treatments -- for pets or environmental use.

ROFLMAO at that post.
Did you read the thread at www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/172012.html before posting that here or there?
It's EPA approved (yeah, they're the right ones to call) and my vet still won't recommend or prescribe for it.
Just out of curiosity who do you work for?

EPA is a government controled division people that look only at money and holders of stock in big pharmacutical companies hold places on these boards..read THe Things They dont want you to Know...Natural Cures , the second book or the third one, updated edition, found at Walmarts all over the USA, before your doubt my post.
Kevin Trudeau author FDA Federal Drug Administration is the division tries to keep cures a secret with crooked means and want to keep you sick and the dogs too..
Federal Trade Commission also gives blessings to companies to sell anything they can get by with and for as long as they can get by with it. Until some American reseachers and Dr.s uncover their nasty tricks and lies.

I firmly stand by my convictions - I will not ever use this product again. What happened to my female wasn't an urban legend or a "rumor". It was 100% real and very frightening. I have the subsequent vet visit, vet bill and complete blood workup to substantiate my position.
The side effects were just too unnerving to subject my female unnecessarily to this product ever again. I didn't use the product on my male and he didn't exhibit any of these symptoms. I have since switched my female back to what I was using before and what do you know?!?! No side effects.

Hey Yellowrose,
I have Kevin Trudeu's "Natural Cures". It's a great book, I even bought his Get out of Debt book. I love the fact he does not have any problem revealing these natural,in many cases, cures, treatments.I have been using natural and herbal remedies for people as well as dogs for some years(34) For fleas, ticks, and mosqitoes I use either a spray or powder I make myself with pennyroyal, eucalptus, spearmint.I buy the oils at various stores and work from there. Lavender is also an excellant deterrant. Whether cut from the garden or in oil or dried form.I also give garlic and brewer's yeast supplements to the dogs, not kids, lol. have had great luck with these natural products.Anyone can pm me and I'll give info on how to obtain the items I have mentioned. Have lists of resources worldwide.
Gosh, the ticks and mosqitoes where I live are so big they serve cocktails on their flights.
Regards,
Ravenhawk
P.S.Two Moons, fyi felt I had something to offer on this topic! You'll know what
I mean. Be well.

I have talked to our Rep. that comes to our Clinic and he even told us not to use it on your breeding females. but I am not sure if it says it on the box or not. I don't like it, I tried it and didn't like the smell or how it made my dogs fur look. We have had a lot of people complain about it. I like Frontline I have never had a problem with it.
