How old? Tranquilized or anesthesized?

by Estweyn on 29 August 2008 - 15:08

Slight flattening on the femur heads, how old is this dog, could be wear and tear, sockets look reasonable, probably below 10 at a guess going on x ray plates of my own dogs in the past

First of all, positioning is not quite correct and I'm not sure that those x-rays could be accepted for evaluation. But looking at the hips I think it could be C by FCI-grade (the same as "noch zugelassen" by SV-grade). I don't think that it would be possible to get FCI-B ("fast normal" by SV-grade) for such x-rays.

hey guys

he is 14 months old and was anesthetized  the x rays are being submitted to the BVA

thanks

Best guess if sending to OFA would be fair to good. The flat spots on the heads are normal, it's where the ligaments attach. The positioning could be better and I'd like to see the knees. Still of diagnositic quality IMO. Half of each head is seated in the socket and the necks are well defined. NZ would mean mild to moderate HD per OFA standards. I don't see that. SV, "A" stamp. BVA?

NZ means mild dysplastic, but still available for breeding, A-stamp in SV.

You are correct, I should have said NZ was about the same as OFA mildly dysplastic. I still don't see this xray  getting an NZ, no signs of mild HD that I can see. Hopefully, tigermouse will let us know the BVA rating.  Is an NZ really considered an "a" stamp? I didn't know that.
