Rugers Guru

Is there a recommendation for an alternate Schutzhund trainer in or near Sacramento, CA? My trainer is not as "available" these days as he was during puppy training. He is a GREAT trainer, but has allot going on right now. I am to the point I'm thinking about sending him out for his BH & SCH1. Any thoughts on this, or any referrals?

Thank you!

Hi. I train in Dixon California. We have a club there. You can go onto the United Schutzhund Clubs of America's website and look for the Pacific Coast Working Dog Club.

David Dembouski is probably one of the best trainers in Nor Cal and certainly one of the best you will find in the Sacramento area.  Their club is Sacramento Valley Working Dog Club.  You can find club contact info on the usa website http://germanshepherddog.com/clubs/north_western.htm he understands dog behaviors and has competed at national events and qualified for the Malinois World Team .

Placer is up there too, and John Raboni is also a good trainer, he's backed off a bit from helper work, but he has been doing this for a long time and trains most all of the K9s for Placer County Schutzhund Club.

These are the two clubs that I would highly recommend up in that area.

By the way the NW Regional Championships are next weekend at the Placer Club, you can check it out and see where the dogs are coming from, that may help you to determine where you would like to train.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will look into it. In the meantime, I would love to check out the Championships... Maybe I can pick up some equipment there too. Anyone wanna go with me? Its off of Hywy 65 right?

I would like to second Kari's recommendation of David D. He is without question one of the best, and calmest, trainer/handlers in the sport. In addition, he is just plain "good people." I would highly recommend him.

Ya, right around the corner from the casion actually, once I stopped there for a potty break and walked out with $100, but then the next time Jose and I went up there for training and we both lost near $200  That was an expensive training day!

And yes David is goooood people.  We seem to have a lot of good people here in Nor Cal!

I would also highly recommend David Dembouski a.k.a. Double-D. He is a great helper and hopefully has fully recovered from the sight of 400lbs strippers at the AWDF championship in Gadsen, AL  2006.

"400 pounds of "Sad" hangin' upside down on a pole. You wanna laugh at her but her kids're there cheerin' her on"
