A few questions.

How long have you raw fed?

Have you or any adult member of your household been sickened with salmonella or e-coli?

Did you raw feed around young children and did they get sickened with salmonella or e-coli from the dogs or any other source?

Please no posts about "this vet says this" or "that report said that".  Just first hand experience.

Thanks for the input.

My parents always fed "raw" when I was small - the GSD we had then had a most amazing diet due to the easy access we had to a slaughter house.

I dont always feed Raw but I have always added some as and when I feel like it or it is more accessible.  I have 2 children and they have regularly fed the dogs their food (including raw) since they were old enough to hold a bowl.  Neither of them have ever been ill as a result.  Mind you we advocate good animal hygeine and ensure that they always wash their hands after feeding be it the dogs or chickens.

Been at it for 4+ years now with no adverse affects to myself or husband. My grandkids are over occasionally ages 5 and 1 year with no problems either. I have only seen positives from raw feeding. I even grind the chicken making handling more than normal. I clean up the grinder and counter then give a once over with Clorox wipes, wash my hands and forget about it...

Been feeding raw about 5 years, and no we've never been sick from any cross contamination.   I don't have small children around crawling on the floors though, I suspect I'd clean more if I did!   My cats are raw fed as well, sleep on our beds, etc.  No one has ever gotten sick from it yet.

I just started feeding RAW when I got my current dog as a pup, so I've been feeding RAW for close to 3 years now, though  I wish I had started a long time ago.  Curently my GSD is fed RAW, but our Akita and our Rottie are kibble fed.  We haven't had any salmonella or e-coli outbreaks in our household, and while we have no kids,  we do have Peters' father who is in his 80s.   I only bring this up because it is my understanding both the elderly and very young are more suseptible to salmonella and/or e-coli poisoning.

I've fed raw for 3+years now. No one's ever gotten sick in my household, and I have an autoimmune disease so would be considered at risk.......

I started raw feeding two GSDs in April 1999. One was a a 6 year old male and the other was a 2 year old female. Now I have one 11 month old male puppy.  So, right now I am at ten years.

The grandchildren have been around the dogs. One of them spent the summer here and she fed the dogs.

No e-coli or salmonella.

Prior to feeding raw and discovering Panacur, both dogs had recurring Giardia and I did catch that twice somehow.
