What part of training actually causes the stress in the dog and yawn while in sit in motion versus total focus towards the handler watching him intently.
thanks for all great replies in advance.
cheers

a Yawn is usually a sign of nervousness. I would say that a yawn would stem from the correction given to the dog when learning the sit in motion.......that is my guess.

Vikram,
Without seeing the training, I would suggest that the dog may, in fact, actually be bored. The question would be how do you train? Dogs trained in drive do not generally yawn, but some may be frustrated, or bored when the exercises are not fun and motivating. Tell us how you do this and perhaps we can suggest an alternative.

The dog wants to be with the handler, hence experiences some stress. Same thing happens with any in-motion exercise and the long-down a lot of the time. Yawning is not fualty as long as they don't move from the position otherwise.

I don't think I have ever noticed a dog yawn on the sit in motion, maybe I have never paid attention but my dogs yawn all of the time and they are not stressed sitting on the couch!

Happens all the time, especially on the stand in motion for some reason.

Wow, I guess I just pay attention to my dog STNADING on the SIT in motion and WALKING on the STAND!!!
I'll have to pay attention and look for it now.

Kari, you forgot the belly crawling on the down under distraction.
I've seen dogs yawn but never thought about why. I'm going to have to start watching and seeing what else the dog is exhibiting, boredom or vervous?

At our club trial last year, one of my club member's dog military crawled from the long down to about 10 feet from blind six where Nancy was hiding. He would crawl 4-5 feet, look around crawl 4-5 feet look around, he never got more than 2 inches of of the ground, he really looked like a military comando, checking for the enemies while he was making his way down the field.
I was filming and couldn't stop laughing, Nancy did not think it was so funny at the time of course, when she came out of the blind she was quite surprised to see him less than 10 feet in front of her! Those darn dogs!!

You always know you're in trouble when you're standing in the blind for the SchH3 long down, and you hear people LAUGHING.
