It is very much true! I really like having "just a dog" around, but deep down, Sadie is more. Dogs are not just dogs to some. They are someone to love, to hold tight when it hurts, a shoulder to cry on, someone to lick away tears, and so much more! So I would have to agree with you and your friend. My dog is not "just a dog", she is a shepherd that has won my heart forever.

Our dogs are a huge part of our family and no one ever questions that who know me. I have two teenage daughters and they both have a place on their MySpace where they talk about their dogs ands how much they love them. I can't imagine my life without them, and frankly, I don't want to either.

Call me crazy but my dogs are like my children. Yes their species are canines but their not just a Dog in my eyes... their just my children.
