I'll bump this until this girl finds a home.

We had a female GSD, looks to be about 1 year old, brought into the kennel where I work. She was found in a crate abandoned by the side of the road.  Seemed very scared, understandably. Seems like run of the pet pet quality dog.

Not an ideal dog for a busy family with lot of traffic running in and out. She has shown a tendency for some fear with certain people and a bit of dog aggression as well. She'll hackle, growl, bark, but she's really pretty nice and the behavior is easily stopped with correction. My daughter is currently putting some basic obedience on her and working on her issues to make her more homeable. After just a few days of formal training, she is 110% better. I think she'll be a real sweetheart in the right hands. I'll try to post a pic of her in a few days.

I hope you find her a good home where she will be loved and well cared for and big cheer for you taking the time to help...and I hope the people whom abbonded her find they have terminal brain cancer.

CKzaja,

I would be afraid to place such a dog, thats a responability as well to the people who might end up with this dog.

It's bad enough to dump a dog but whoever left this one in a crate left it to die.   I would put picture's in the paper hoping someone knew them and would turn them in..   Then send me their name and address.

I don't care how great a trainer may be, a dog can have damage that can never be healed and can be dangerous.

From what you described this dog has been terrorized and has suffered, as long as she live's she will not forget this.

Someone said I am alway's negitive , people like this is why.   I hope you find the one person out there who could take this dog and give it what it will need to live a good life, your looking for one in one hundred.

I've already rescued one from a bad situation and I've done all I am capable of, but I have the time if you get that name and address.

This kind of thing really piss's me off.  I'd like them to meet  Evil Brent.

You have a picture of this dog?

Brent

She really isnt that bad, guys. She is isn't hand shy. She's not a neurotic mess by any means. She's simply a dog who completely lacks socialization and training of any kind. Most likely the moron kept her outside or in their basement and could no longer afford her or be troubled to own her and dumped her.  A real a-hole to be sure, but she does not show any signs of being abused, just emotionally neglected and a bit thin. She'll do just fine in the right hands.

I am not a novice regarding dogs like this by any means. if I thought she was even remotely dangerous my 12 year old would not be training her. I'll post some pics of her and maybe even try to get a training video of her up so you can judge for yourselves.

Where are you located in Northern Ilinois?  I live in Spring Grove and might be interested.  Please let me know how to get in contact with the shelter or organization you are with.  Thank You

Two Moons, I like the way you think, I could only hope they would be able to provide you with the name of the previous owner,

I just can't understand leaving it in a crate at the side of the road.   Any shelter would have taken it.   Unless they really didn't own it.      I'm still pissed.

The dog I have is really sweet too..  she'd love to be an only child.   But she does, has suprised me a time or two with some protective aggression I was not expecting at the time.   She seem's not to like biker's very much, male biker's anyway.   And stranger's cannot approach the truck when she's in it.      She also has some fear issue's that tell me she was abused in her past life.   She's doing fine now, but I will alway's be watchful and not completely trusting of her around other people.

thedoglady,

Good for you.....:)     I hope you understand what's involved tho.    Once to a shelter is enough for any dog.

1doggie2,

It's a day's drive for me no sweat.  I imagine they have other dog's, I'd like to know how they care for the rest of them.

Brent.

doglady, you can email me. It is not a shelter or rescue group. She is at the boarding/training facility I work for, we sometimes get dogs that need homes and hold on to them until they have somewhere to go. This dog was brought in by one the K9 officers that trained there, he picked her up.
