There are 17 dogs from the age of 3 years to 10 years going for auction in various breeds. Mostly are GSD from Germany and I have heard that there are some top dogs from kennels such as Turkenhof (hope i got the speling right) and some others.
I am hoping to go bid for some of these dogs so I can use them in my breeding program with the intention to:
1) Improve the breed standard
2) take out the good bloodlines
3) give them a good home
4) prevent them going into puppy millers hands.
Is there any guideline I should follow like for age, breedability, etc.. that I should be looking for.

A dog auction????
I hate to even start..........................
all auction's offer information in advance for bidder's to look over. They do here anyway.
Your gonna have to look at the pedigree's if they are available and decide what you think is worth bidding on.
I wouldn't want a ten year old dog for breeding purpose's.
Actually, I don't think this is the way to improve anything.
I'm having a hard time with this Sri.
sigh.

Sri,
You have to be kidding.......if you are not kidding, then you really need to sit down and learn about what might really "improve" the breed or your breeding. Dogs being auctioned are NOT going to be any top dogs, in any way, shape or form, including temperaments. What were they used for and how did they end up in some damn auction? Other than to give the dogs a good home which, if truly done would be laudable, your other reasons appear to be nothing more than for you to use the dogs to make more pups of questionable quality.
One does not achieve the goal of improving the breed or one's breeding stock when one does not know enough to find reputable sources that can provide quality dogs. They are NOT easy to come by, and an auction should be the last place you are looking.
Second your sigh Two Moons.....it is really hopeless.
