I was recently told by a lady out east that she was seriously ripped off by an in home dog trainer of "many years experience". This private dog training was supposedly guarenteed by the trainer who specializes in the psychological training of dogs. She told me this training was provided by a man who is supposedly a top trainer and is a public figure because he has appeared on the radio quite a number of times. He has other large training programs also and has advertised that one will never have to correct their dog again after his special training for the dogs.
Essentially she was ripped off for $5,000 with very little actual training done. If you PM me I will share his name with you if given permission by the victim. This man was very aggressive and has a history of taking folks to conciliation court to attempt to enforce well written but deceptive contracts. She was taken to court over this matter but the perp backed out after she presented her evidence. He has made a very serious threat to this victim I am referring to here and her dogs not to talk about what he did to her. There is quite a bit more negative information related to this particular case. I suggest that folks use extreme caution when attempting to obtain any such well advertised dog training. Make sure you get lots of references and check court records and do a complete background check on anyone offering such training.

Preston,
It is simply impossible for me to go to any event because my first priority is my business. But I would like to go to the shows and more importantly, I would love to go with my friends from the Czech national team who are visiting and go to the WUSV with all of them. Should be quite an eye opener for many.
Best to you.

This in home professional dog trainer has appeared on radio shows and is therefore a public figure, and as I said this individual defrauded one of our well known forum users of $5,000, and then made felonious terroristic threats to destroy her and her GSDs if she ever told anyone. A number of folks who use this forum have been told of this man's name. Because he is a public figure and because truth is an absolute defense against any phony suits to harass this lady/victim that he might bring for libel/slander, and as many know it is very tough for a public figure to win a case for libel/slander when the story is backed by facts, court docs and more. Only chance for him to win such an action would be if extreme maliciousness was proven and the allegations were false. And that's near impossible because this lady is well respected, known to be calm, rational and level headed and does not engage in making false allegations. The lady victim is known personally by a fair number of GSD enthusiasts who use this forum and some of these folks have also been informed of this perp's name.
There may be other victims of this perp out there. Perhaps others may come forward and tell their stories about how this man whose training specializes in the psychological training of dogs ripped them off. If you have been ripped off, defrauded or threatened by such a man/trainer specializing in the psychological treatment of dogs and are afraid to post here, just PM me and I will keep it in confidence and will not reveal it without your specific permission. I will however suggest that you consider reporting it to appropriate federal, state and local law enforcement officials.

I want to make it clear that this one perp who defrauded and terrorized this nice lady who is well known on Oli's forum is in no way an indictment of professional dog training or in home dog training specifically. It involves a trainer out east who specializes in the psychological treatment of dogs and advertises that you will not have to correct your dog again after completing the training or training courses.
In a separate thread another poster on Oli's forum, TheDog Trainer made this point well in an excellent post and I want to support what he asserted: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/215732.html He also listed professional organizations which should be consulted when searching for a qualified dog trainer. The DogTrainer seems to suggest that some kind of professonal association membership for a dog trainer is a good idea as a basis to start your search from if you are looking for a well qualified, professional trainer. And of course any good and highly professional dog trainer will gladly give you many names and phone numbers of recent references and will encourage you to check on his/her well established and good reputation as a successsful trainer and good person.
It is helpful if folks post information about those in home trainers that they have had a good experience with and would recommend, and also any that have treated them poorly. If anyone was defrauded and threatened like this wonderful lady poster on Oli's forum was by this dog trainer from the east, please post information about it here or PM me the details if you don't want to list the name here.
