Where does your dog spend most of his time? :
Inside with free run of the house
In a Kennel or crate
Outside with free run of the yard
How do you feel about people who's dogs spend most of their time outside?

Most of the time my dogs are outside in their kennels with only 1 in the house at a time with me. If it's too hot or too cold then they spend less time outside and I'll let them in their crates. I have 3 males and 1 female so it's not an option to let them all run inside.
I think if the dogs have comforts outside with a generous space to roam, a dog box to keep dry/warm, adequate shade ect then I think it's ok BUT I like having the dogs inside with me interacting with the family. It's great for them to feel this is their home and they're loved.

My boy stays outside most of the afternoon and then after a run or training he gets to come inside and relax and then he sleeps in his crate in our living room.

All the Dogs i have owned in my life have lived outside in a run and kennel
They can run in the garden when we are at home which is most of the time, but are taken out for walks and training twice a day, plus they go to the Schutzund Clubs three times a week
No vets bills, Healthy Dogs with beautiful coats that shineIf it were possible i would post a picture of there home

All the dogs I have ever owned, including my growing up time................. the dogs have always lived inside the house and it wasn't until I had my own dog as an adult that I had ever crated a dog, for the most part once the dog is house broken they have free roam of the house.
I have never owned a GSD, however I have had labs, St Bernards, Dobies, and a few mutts along the way...
In response to the second part of your question, I guess I have wondered why people have dogs if they have to keep them outside, of course I am speaking about people who do not have A LARGE NUMBER OF DOGS. I have always considered my dogs a part of the family, have taken them to obedience school so that they are not a pest when company comes over, and make them mind their house manners, Some people may not be able to keep them inside so I would not judge them, it's just not something that I would do.

"Where does your dog spend most of his time? :" Inside, I would say. They usually are wherever I am, so sleep inside and in and out during the day. Yes free run of the house, I have a #500 crate in the living room but the door is almost always open. I sometimes block off a room or stairway with a child gate if cleaning and don't want them under foot.
"Outside with free run of the yard" When they are out in the yard they have free run. It is pretty big, its an L shape about 200' long by 75' wide, then the smaller part of the L is 32' x 50' and bumps up to an insulated shed with dog doors (16'x8'),that has electricity and can be heated. They never seem to use it though. In fact for the most part all the dogs I have had thru the years when I put them out seem to stay near the house alot with ears cocked and eyes on the windows to hear/see if I am coming out too.
"How do you feel about people who's dogs spend most of their time outside?" I think to each their own as long as they have protection from the elements. Probably is actually more healthy life style for them. I hate to see dogs outside tied 24/7 or dogs outside that have very little human interaction though, whats the point in having one when they live that way.

I forgot to answer myself.
My dogs are outside most of the time. They come in to eat and when it rains, and then its only in the garage, otherwise there are a couple doghouses in the yard along with the two proches for shade. My mum is alergic to animals so when they come in it's a big deal afterwards cleaning and vacuuming.
I thinks it's OK to leave them outside once u spend enough time outside with them.

In , out, mostly out. sometime's in the kennel other time's running free. It's like musical chair's between four dog's.
Definately not in when wet or muddy. alway's vacuuming hair.
Also use shift's.

ditto two moons,
in, out, yard, always in shifts. bitter cold or blazing hot they all come in, most are crated, but they all get loose time in the house.
