Hello there...
All you have to do is browse this forum. There is a ton of the information you are looking for.

You mean would I tell you if there was a kennel that sent me a picture of a dog they supposedly had for sale, and the picture turned out to be the deceased dam of a dog I currently own? No, I wouldn't tell you :)
Do your homework. Lots of scumbags out there.

usually the best way is to ask for info about a kennel. you will get the good and bad. you can also ask people to send you a personal message, if they dont want it to be public.

rookie,
Your so new your still wet and your asking this?
I suggest reading and watching, unless you have a specific breeder or kennel to inquire about.
Let's see if your a rookie or something else.

Howdy,
Hi Two Moons........ chill out, dont be so harsh !
Actually, it is nice that he/she is thinking about this stuff B E F O R E he / she gets a Pup .......... way more peopel out there that jump right in it, without doing any kind of research.
Rookie, your best bet will be to look at a breeder of your intrest, try to locate where other dogs of that kennel are and contact their owner. This way you will get 1st hand info. And yes, try to keep it private, so you dont start a war in here. Way to much of this stuff in here.
Keep in mind, a pup is a crapshot, no matter where it comes from. But you can increase your odds, if you are willing to do your homework and choose to buy a pup out of respected parents with good lines.
Good luck to you.

Just imagine if you were a green rookie and just starting to look for a GSD how daunting that task would be. We both know how difficult that is. Last year I was in his position I had been out of the market for 10 years and almost had a heart attack when faced with the reality of todays situaion.
imtherookie My advice is to tread very slowly DO your home work start close to home and widen your circle slowly. Try and visit the kennel look at the dogs see if friends have dealt with the kennel check references. If in doubt post the name of a kennel on here and ask what the members know about that kennel. Unfortunatly it is shark infested waters out there loaded with out right thieves crooks scam artists and liars just waiting with baited breath to get their greedy hands on your money. Best of luck to you but be aware there are honest breeders out there your task is to find them.

At the time of my purchase I did all the inquiries that I could I am in Canada away from the beaten track so to speak. I live up in northern Ontario, I wish I would have found this web-site sooner although I am totally happy with both my pups one is from Grandview kennels the other is from Chambo's black GSD's the latest one was much more forthcoming with info and had a nice clean place the other I didn't see but as I said my pups are both great . It's just really hard when the only tools you have are the internet it would be impossible to just visit these kennels before buying as they are 4 or 5 hundred miles away. Any how I am very happy with your input all I know is I love my dogs but for future reference it would be good to know.

intherookie, please try to ignore the bully tactics of some on this site. They are usually the ones with no, or limited knowledge regarding the breed. Many are KNOW IT ALL'S, many harbor CONSPIRACY THEORIES and many are EXPERT RESEARCHERS who scour the archives of this site. The one common denominator is that they are ALL bullies and cowards.
Your question is a legitimate one, simply post the name of the kennel that you are inquiring about....something like this should work.
"I'm looking for information both positive and negative regarding _________ Kennel. Please PM or email me with any information you have that can help me".
Keep asking questions and educating yourself.
