I'm now in the position of having to transport my two boys together (one neutered, one not). I have a Ford Explorer that's a couple of years old. The dogs are BIG boys ( 97 and 100 lbs respectively). Does anyone out there have a place that they have been able to get decent side by side crates that would fit in my truck? I'm having issues because of the size of the regular crates that the boys need vs how much clearance there is to fit the crates in. I have the 3 row seat version of the Explorer - the last row folds down nice and flat but the center row, when down, slopes upward. I'd even entertain getting them from someone who does custom crates..... Trial season will be upon us soon....!!

The BEST crates in this country are made by Markus Manufacturing in Texas. They are custom made to your specifications. Not at all cheap, but especially when size is an issue, if you tell him your make and model, once you have a deal with him, he will actually go to a dealership and check out the same make and model and do the measurements for you and make the crate. That being said, there is another option and that is to take a second crate broken down and then put it together and put screening, insulation etc., over it and put the dog in it at the field. It is a pain and that is one reason why I bought custom made crates from this man. I also bought an excellent Jones trailer that is for sale at this time simply because I do not use it enough, but it is more than you want with 6 extra large stalls and many other custom options. Last option, trade in your vehicle for something that will work better......car dealers are falling all over themselves trying to get some business for larger vehicles and you might be able to get a good deal.
Good luck.

I got my double crate from Diamond Deluxe http://www.diamonddeluxe.com/
They make a great box and will do it to your specifications. I have gotten many compliments on mine. Great prices and service.

I just bought a honda element and needed crates. I didn't want to go custom because of the expense. I went with the Midwest side by side crates. They are 21 in wide 42 in long (they also have a 36 in long)and I am not sure how high but pretty high. I have gsds and my big girl can fit and she is 27 in tall and 95 lbs and she has enough room to turn around stand and lay down. I did a search online and found that the pampered pet had them the cheapest I think they were around 129.00 each plus 15 for shipping. I saw them priced higher but they had them the cheapest. they have worked out great!!

I have seen the fold up one at training last week it is at this site, it was made nice. They said it was easy to put up and the wife said she liked it because she could handle it herself.
it folds up

Thanks one and all. At least I have a few options to look at. And Hodie - I've thought about getting something else larger but I commute 70 miles RT each day, so I'd wind up having to get TWO vehicles- one for work and one for the dogs...add that to the pickup for the horse and my husband would probably have the big one!!!

LynOD -
On your element- I am guessing that's with both seats out? I have an 06... and always struggling with a good crate solution.
