Hello All,

Does anyone have any hips xrays evaluated by the OFA rated Excellent, Good, Fair, Borderline, Mild......? If you wouldn't mind posting them, on here it would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to find good examples to show some friends of mine. And I cannot seem to find anything on the internet.

All would be appreciated if its not too much trouble! Thanks,

Jennifer

Xray below is OFA Good and Pennhip .32/.36

This is interesting.

Xray below is OFA Good and Pennhip .32/.36

Can or does anyone have the breakdown on hips evaulated like the OFA but in numbers like the Pennhip

I mean if OFA good = Pennhip. 32/36

What would OFA Exellent = Pennhip ?

or

What would OFA Fair = Pennhip ?

I have been told the numbers for individual breeds differ slightly but for the German Shepherd what are their numbers?

My vet has approached my son on the Pennhip since he puts so much time and effort into his training. Had a pup with extensive training come back with a displastic hip. Very heartbreaking.

I have to say at the outset the dog that is Pennhip'd above is an ACD and not a GSD.  Here is his OFA page:

http://www.offa.org/display.html?appnum=1192462#animal

Personally, I have found no correlation between Pennhip distraction levels and a specific OFA results.  I have seen a dog go borderline in OFA and have .29/.33 in Pennhip.  The two methods are looking at different things.  The dog whose xray I submitted above is rated 90% better than all the other ACDs tested in Pennhip.  A .32/.36 is very good for Pennhip.  There are pros and cons to both OFA and Pennhip but I personally find both tests useful in making potential breeding decisions.  To each their own though as I know some people won't touch Pennhip with a five foot pole and vice versa with OFA.
