I have a daughter of Sherry vom Kirschental from Traumhof in MA. We never received AKC/USCA papers from the breeder and despite various emails to her, she has not responded since May. She originally stated there would be an 8-10 week delay due to Sherry's transfer of ownership from Kirschental. It has been 6 months. Now we do not plan to breed our pup - she is strictly a working dog (and member of the family of course). However, this is really a matter of principle now. What should we do?

Try the breeder a couple more times. If no response, forgetaboutit!!!!! You have no plans for breeding, so what do ya want papers for? Chalk it up as a learning experience, stay away from this person and realize that the breeder saved you around $50 of registration money to the AKC. Take the $50 and buy a couple nice bones for the unregistered family member.

No way I'm going to forget about it for what the registration tacked on to the cost of the pup.
The breeder does take great care of her dogs and I love the lines. We had wanted to maintain a good relationship with her as we were interested in future pups. I guess that's out the window now though.

Try to contact her over and over till she gets tired of you than she might respond. Maybe she is haveing problem with transfer as well. Its vacation time maybe she is on vacation :)

It can take longer then 8 - 10 weeks. I had a set of papers in the mail system somewhere for almost 3-months before I received them. The post marks back the claim they had been mailed......

snajper69,
She has updated her website every few days since the last contact. She also had another litter and showed 1 of my pup's littermates at the Canadian Sieger. Busy yes, vacation no. She is responding to emails from people looking to purchase her new pups.
animules,
This has been 6 months and since May I have not received so much as an email telling me there has been a delay.

It takes a while for the AKC to process the DNA which is required to register the pups. Even if the paperwork for the registration is in, it can take at least 6 weeks to process the DNA alone. USCA papers I believe will take longer.
I am sure you will receive your AKC papers as soon as they have been "processed". Sherry recently was showing in Canada, so they have not been home to answer emails.
As an aside, I had a male from a litter that the breeder had a problem with getting the proper paperwork from Germany on. It took almost til he was a year old for her to get the papers from the AKC. Sometimes there is only so much a breeder can do.

maybe you're a stalker and you call too much?

by snajper69 on 13 August 2008 - 17:08
Or maybe you have wrong number and e-mail :). Why you care its going to be a pet any way. But yeah I agree is a matter of principals, but than going all bolistic about it, I don't see a point.

This is a breeder that I looked at but passed because her pup's were priced at 2K. If I'm not mistaken her husband is a Mass. state police officer!! Send her a regestered letter copy it to the AKC and Mariam at Kirchental. If you have a puppy contract it states your entitld to AKC regestration. In that letter tell her that you will contact the state dept. of consumer protection and file a claim in small claims court for breach of contract if you don't get your regestration in 30 day's that should do it.. Best of luck
