The website for the GSSCC 2008 Nationals has unofficial results posted including the Sieger and Siegerin, but I don't see the dog named Universal Sieger listed anywhere.  Can anyone who attended tell me which dog was named Universal Sieger?  Thanks.

The Universal Sieger was Hamon de Lupus Saevus.

Thanks very much for that...

I know there has been discussion on this forum before about how a Universal Sieger is chosen.  Is it done the same way in all countries?  I was under the impression that a dog that did well in the schutzhund trials as well as conformation showing was chosen, but I wonder how the dogs's schutzhund scores and conformation ratings are factored together to come up with the Universal Sieger at a National competition.

Canada and the US both require a rating from the Sieger Show and a score from the National Championship. Because Canad's event is smaller, both events are held on the same weekend. In the US the SS is (usually) in April and the National Championship inOctober/November. Both have a calculation scheme or formula to determine which dog wins. Canada's has been more complicated than USA's and the Canadians keep changing the formula. :-)

Thank you so much, Ulla. That was exactly what I wanted to know... much appreciated.

Mystere:   Thanks also for that observation.  I wonder if the Canadian formula, being more complicated, results in a more objective and fairer assessment of which dog/bitch deserves the title.

You're welcome, czechGSD!

Nice dog, in the ring, (bored though, typical working dog) on the trial field and around the camp fire. Beautiful bi-color with a great temperament.
